Changing the argument as you stated “can’t think of a good offense who used 22 personnel or heavy package as a staple of their offense”They are 14th in the league in points despite having the best defense that constantly puts them in good field position. If you trust that offense in the playoffs then good luck.
I've been sayin...but Smokey keeps telling me you don't need much execution out of your OL for great results, a real OC can just wave the magic wand of scheme, and get infinitely better results..Devo182 posted this in the FF.
A rather depressing stat:
2018 NCAA OFFENSIVE LINE STATS | Football Outsiders
Until the problems with our OL are rectified, we'll not see improvement in the win column.
Someone noted in a comment about a "transfer portal". I've never seen that before. What is this?
I do agree a better playcaller will help some, but nofreakinbody will get much more than 3.5 pts a game improvement out of this offense until they start executing blocking assignments better. On that o-line stuff, I 100% agree that our line was terrible but I also think a lack of creativity on offense played into that. Our play calls were such that the OC seemed to think we could just over power the opponent. 90% runs between the tackles on first down, less so on 2nd but still more so than not. Then we expect these guys to be great at pass protection on third and long. A new, imaginative play caller will do wonders for this line.
Nah I’m saying the right OC can *help* hide those deficiencies, which will improve the results.... Helton didn’tI've been sayin...but Smokey keeps telling me you don't need much execution out of your OL for great results, a real OC can just wave the magic wand of scheme, and get infinitely better results..
Just kiddin Smokey...I know we needed a better Unicor...I mean Coordinator of Offense.
Which until recently is what he saw at Bama. But he saw differently at FSU and even more so under Propst. Might prefer a strong mix of those offenses...as he does with his defenses, flexibility is the key. What's funny is none of us have a clue what kind of offense Pruitt prefers. We just think since he is a defensive mind that he wants a slobberknocker 3 yards and a cloud of dust O.
It will swing back...it always does. Defenses start changing to smaller quicker base, then offense start beefing up again and running over them...and around and around we go..I may be in the minority here but “power run” based offense is such an out dated term and honestly just saying your offense is archaic or unwilling to take risks.
I can’t think of one good offense pro or college who uses 22 personnel or a heavy packages as a staple to their offense.
Well he was talking about recruits and what they were all about. I think he just wanted to talk about them and not get bogged down in the OC search mire. Him saying to much is put on the OC was just letting people know it doesn't matter who is at that position because he is the boss and we need players and that is who we are taking about.I know exactly what Pruitt said.
He said the OC was overrated/not all that important and that is more about the players. You can say he wasn't being literal but your take was way off base. The article was much more accurate than you.
