the smell of fresh pot will definitely get me running...
I have always been a hound dog. Been way across the street down a long driveway and smelled what they was cooking across road in thier garage. I come flying up on 4wheeler, they all look at each other like no you didn't. I said, yes I did. I got many other stories to. Found some peeps stash before with my nose, several times 🍀

The Yurcich hire is good at first thought but when you look at it more it doesn’t make sense. We don’t really have the personnel to run that offense and we aren’t recruiting the players to run it. We aren’t recruiting a bunch of smaller, faster receivers and don’t have any on the team for example.

It also doesn’t seem like a philosophy match in terms of what Pruitt wants. Hope we find someone else
Yep. We sure seem to be recruiting guys very far from that thinking

On that o-line stuff, I 100% agree that our line was terrible but I also think a lack of creativity on offense played into that. Our play calls were such that the OC seemed to think we could just over power the opponent. 90% runs between the tackles on first down, less so on 2nd but still more so than not. Then we expect these guys to be great at pass protection on third and long. A new, imaginative play caller will do wonders for this line.

What killed me was the staggering amount of whiffs.

Sark or Yurcich and we have a very good OC imo

Who would y’all rather have?
I want someone who has called plays at a power 5 or NFL level. I always thought Helton was a gamble for that reason.

I think both options would be an upgrade over Helton. Just don’t think he was ready to be the guy on that side of the ball.

Is that the reason Helton is gone? Offense too complicated?
I just don't think Pruitt trusted him to totally let him loose with the offense. I'm not sure they meshed personality wise either. Pruitt and Friend are buds and he was responsible for that o-line. Maybe friend and Helton didn't jive.

90% of posters on here were begging for that play calling before the season. I expected a more imaginative play caller but for whatever reason Helton didn't do that.

Your account of his quotes are much worse than the article.

His quotes were saying that jimmys and the joes make the OC job less important. Now did he mean that literally or not I don't know but he in no way said it in the way you characterize it in your post here.

Pruitt basically said without the players an offensive coordinator is about as important as air. Meaning you need good players. Which is where he stated the OC isn’t important in recruiting because kids usually commit to the head coach not the OC, because of how often they change.

You are the one having a hard time deciphering what Pruitt was saying.

Just about everyone of their receivers is over 6' tall. And Justice Hill is physically similar to Chandler. They don't use TE really and that's a big difference. But who knows. I don't think we really know what to expect yet.

Yurcich because Sark isn't realistic. Or is that just who you prefer.

I dont think Sark is unrealistic.
I’m not particularly high on either one because I don’t see this job as one where an offensive coordinator will be hired to have free reign of the offense. And as such I’m scared will have mixed messages on offense like we did last year.

And both of those guys are head coaching candidates - not sure I love the idea of having to replace either in a year or two.

Also question what higher profile OC would come here and not bring any or hardly any of their own staff?

Yurcich was a no name from Division 2 before Gundy found him. He'd never even coached in FBS or FCS other than as a grad assistant. I don't know why Helton didn't work out but that shouldn't really deter us from going after a great offensive mind at any level. There's risks in all of the candidates including Yurcich and Sark.

And the more I think about it, I don’t know why Yurcich would give up entire control of his offense - with a better offensive roster in Stillwater (for a short time anyway) - to come here.

Hubbs says it ain’t dead so I’m buying it, but just seems unrealistic to me.
