I’m just not a fan of taking graduate transfers that have one year of eligibility when that year isn’t one that you’re competing for championships. Will McBride and Jeremy Banks could have given us everything Chryst and London gave us.
That is somewhat shortsighted. When you are changing the culture of a team with bad attitudes and bad work ethic then you need guys that do it the right way to lead in practice and the weight room. That's a big picture argument for the situation we were in. On field production, they definitely didn't deliver anything worthwhile of a scholarship.

Chryst was an insurance policy

That is also kind of my point. We saw how Helton's plan got tossed around by whomever. What happens with the Juco guys plan when things aren't working out.

Anyway
Who you picking Sleego?
I haven't really kept up with it but I like osevet's potential. Rpo is where football is going. That's not really gonna slow down anytime soon. And he's considered one of the more innovative coaches of that system so having a guy who could have a knack for installing it and calling it and adapting it as defenses start to find ways to stop it has potential to work really well. He may not have experience on the big stage but good play callers tend to just have a knack for it. Maybe he won't but he seems like the type that would have that knack. I don't know any other candidates that are being considered but I'd be excited for osevet.

Ok. In the vein your thinking I was really hoping we'd target Kerwin Bell. He has a ton of HC experience, a div ii NC, explosive offense, and he's a Spurrier disciple.

In 2018, Bell led the Blazers to an undefeated regular season in which they scored the most points in NCAA Division II history. In December 2018, the Blazers capped a perfect 14-0 season by winning the Division II national championship.[25]

Following a 58-point performance last Saturday, Valdosta State ranks third in the nation in scoring average at 52.7 points per game. The Blazers average 503.3 yards of total offense per contest, good for 11th in the country, and their 7.66 yards per play is the third-best per-play average.

That's a point that gets brought up a lot but there's very few examples of grad transfers actually doing any of that. Why would a team change culture just because some guy who probably wasn't playing much on another team is gonna be there on a one year rental? Grad transfers aren't a good way to change a culture imo. They rarely even contribute. They are more often than not just depth bandaids that get over hyped. Which is what we had last class. Maybe it was good we got them but imo the contribution they made was worth far less than the spots they took. At least Kennedy gets a second year but still that basically turned into a one year rental after the injury. Hopefully he makes enough contributions next year to out weigh it. But grad transfers rarely live up to the hype.

Never heard of him but could be one to look at.

Jordan came out at first missing holes..he grew. and he learned,,.banks came out busting heads running over people..just forgot the the rule..cover the facking ball..he lost his spot..banks needs to be on defense
Maybe banks does need to be on defense but that logic is a little flawed. He showed plenty of potential running to stay there. Not fumbling is a skill you can learn and develop. There are tons of examples of that. Unless his potential at lb is greater than you just develop his ball protection in the offseason and give him another shot at rb.

Ok are these the new names to follow or just darts at a board?

Check out @danharralson’s Tweet:

Darts. He has been throwing wild darts like a homeless drunk at a dive bar this whole search. He has like a 4 hr window for Pruitt to hire a guy before he creates a new random hotboard

Agree. It felt more like a HS coach just trying to get his best athletes on the field that a long term plan.
