The reason Butch failed was because his inexperience. When things got going he couldn't handle it. Didn't know how to handle elite level athletes. And how quickly we forget, his most successful year was when we had a cagey, boring, veteran calling the plays.
You can get veteran, innovative play callers that have done it at a four year institution. There is plenty of real estate between a dinosaur and an egg.
Who do you want? Cmon Invol, time to reveal your answer to deliver us from 14th in offense in the SEC...
I have moral reasons for not hiring a couple guys we’ve heard come up, but other than those issues I’m not going to be upset about anyone we hire.Ok so for OC tell us
Who you want
Who you want us to avoid
Who you think we'll get
For me:
Who you want - Yurcich
Who you want us to avoid - Propst (Osovet but to a lesser extent)
Who you think we'll get - Osovet
I think he failed due to his ego. Guy couldn’t be wrong, thought he was smarter than everyone else and didn’t trust people to do their jobs.
He’d take blame in front of the media for losing, but it was all a front. Anytime he was questioned about anything specific he’d defend himself no matter how irrational like an impudent child.
Yea, that's part of the inexperience I was referring too. He never could grasp the "act like you've been there".I think he failed due to his ego. Guy couldn’t be wrong, thought he was smarter than everyone else and didn’t trust people to do their jobs.

I don't understand all the fuss. It's not like we signed an entire class of these out of nowhere guys. It's one guy. This staff showed last cycle they can find guys nobody else was paying attention to or knew about. Every class in country is probably going to have a few guys it's fan base wonders why they took them. You just don't want the majority of your class like that
I think it's a great asset to have a great recruiter as your OC. But i think its more important that you have an exciting offense that scores points. Do that and recruiting takes care of itself.I love how all of you think Sark would be a great recruiter. He hasnt been in the college game for a minute and would basically come after being fired. We don't need an OC to recruit, we need an OC who can score points.
My problem with Osovet is he is a one note guy...remember when Malzahn was a creative genius..till he wasn't? Osovet needs to learn to be multiple..that's where long term success truly lies nowadays..you have to mix old school and new ideas not abandon either...plus you have to recruit.I never said Sark. But I think it's extremely risky to hire a guy like Osovet to run your offense. The learning curve is steep. Could he do it? Sure, but the odds are stacked against him. It's an extremely risky hire and I'm not sure Pruitt can afford this risk. IMO.
