Anyone else not impressed with the early signing day overall?
Considering we got the doors blown off by Mizzou and Vandy to end the season while missing a bowl game, I'd be happy to clean up with who we have signed, plus Darnell, Crouch, and Gray.
Was there the big fish surprise that was hinted at and hyped up for the last few weeks? No. Are we doomed because of it? No. Y'all keep paying attention to Bama and Georgia, and yeah it sucks, but they can still only play 11 dudes at a time. We knew it was a process to rebuild this thing the right way. Throw the magnifying glass away and buy a hammock for the next year or two.
Edit: Didn't see the next post establishing "overall".. I'll leave what I originally said because others can probably stand to read it.
Overall, ESD is still being felt out by the majority of teams. So far it's hard to say who's benefited most from it-- which teams, what caliber of player, etc.
My gut (and it's based off of reaction to today's and last year's ESD, as well as our standing as a non-bowl-qualifier the last two seasons).. My gut says it's helped the perennial CFP contenders the most, as they're able to say "Get on aboard before we leave you behind".. Then again, it helps the non-contenders by allowing us to sign a significant portion of our class and focus on closing, instead of worrying about other teams poaching our guys.
So, mixed bag. It'll take another few years to get the big picture IMO
