Nah no reason to panic. It's solid enough assuming we get Crouch and Wright and Gray. Just gotta realize we are going to have to do better for the next few years to compete with the big boys in the SEC.

We don't need to compete with the big boys, we need to beat everyone else. Once we do recruiting will take care of itself, but until we do, we will have to be satisfied with 10-15 ranked classes.

lol. i know. i'm glad you've come around. as parcell's said once, "you are what your record says you are"...and that dude is a loser.

Pretty much now any coach that has winning stunts at UCF, Houston, Boise, USF, or Louisville i instantly have red flags about. Seems like anybody can win there.

there's a little more "poor me" in this for my taste, but in merit, i agree.
UGA and Bama are not our peer group right now, of the SEC teams on our schedule. everyone else is.

so i think you throw those 2 out for hte time being.

at some point Vand, KY need to get back to just being W's. USCe, MO should be "most of the time w's". UF should be a toss up game every year. and when 5-3 in the SEC becomes the floor again, then it's time to start looking at UGA and BAma.
Could you keep repeating this about every month or so?

lol. yeah, it's not as bad as some would have you think. but it's not over the moon good either. it literally is what it is.

and we have 2 months to see what the actual finishd product will look like.
If we finish with the big fish we're in good position for currently and add in a guy like Russell and another Dline guy then this is a very good class honestly. Not Bama or UGA good, but good enough to compete with every other team in the East.

Yeah gotta start somewhere. Gotta beat Missouri, Vandy, and UK next year. Crazy how well they can do with a bunch of 3 stars when they have coaching continuity. I am constantly impressed with Missouri and what they do especially on offense.

Just think how upset you'd be if some of our commits flipped today like what happened to many schools around the country. Oooh man we'd be 100x more upset!!!!

Exactly, we tried flipping Ellis from Baylor, that didn't happen. But we managed to land all our commits and prevented them from flipping.

We have put together a respectable class - no doubt about that. And if we do in fact land Gray, Wright, and Crouch - then that is better than what we probably should've reasonably expected after how the season ended.

I think what extrapolates the frustrated mood (for me, at least) is two things:

1. VQ/AV/etc have been hinting (if not outright declaring) we were getting some guys. Which we didn't. It's like Christmas morning 1989.... I wanted a Nintendo. My parents hinted I was getting a Nintendo. I wake up, and get an Atari 7200. My friend had an Atari 7200 and their actually were some decent games on that system. But boy oh boy did I want that Nintendo. Hopefully NSD 2020 will be like Christmas 1990 and we gets our Nintendo.

2. Alabama and UGA are trading jabs, landing four and five star guys left and right. Every time I open my twitter machine, a five star has chosen them. ***** getting old. We live in a microwave society where I lose sight that this is a multi-year rebuild. Right now I want to start beating them. When in reality we need to focus on separating ourselves from the Missouris/Kentuckys/uscjr/ etc.

I will admit.... today my mood instantly sank when Joseph Anderson stuck with uscjr. Kind of set the tone. Means signed immediately afterwards and all I really saw was the 247 two star ranking and it just put me in a **** mood. Ellis being a dickwad and everything else was just frustrating overall.

Never said it couldn't be worse.

Am saying today was disappointing based on all the smoke out there.

As homerific as you were in many threads, declaring a lot of these guys Vols, not sure how you don't somewhat feel the same way.
That's recruiting. How could you not think that in reality many of those non committed guys were long shots? Most of the guys we "missed on" as you say haven't even visited UT recently or ever until last weekend. Landing Cain, Eboigbe, Figureroa, Ellis, etc would have been big upsets correct? Then why get so upset when it doesn't happen. We signed every single guy we were suppose to sign and didn't win any of the big upsets.

Some really good news....5 star OL Darnell Wright cancelled his OV to UGA and took an UOV to UT instead last weekend, 5 star OLB Q. Crouch (who hasn't visited in awhile) made a secret trip to UT last weekend before ESD and by all accounts Tennessee has flipped him from Clemson, he's signing Friday, and will announce in a couple weeks. Oh and 4 star RB Eric Gray decommitted from Michigan recently and is very likely committing and signing with UT tomorrow.

Why wouldn't I be super disappointed and throw a temper tantrum like so many on here? Well, because from my point of view things are looking pretty good for the Vols right about now. JMO

Our needs:
1. OL 2. DL 3. LB. 4. RB 5. Skilled positions.

Results:
BEST: OL
WORST: DL concerning
LB: depends on Crouch & Russell. Henry looks solid though.
RB: Depends on Gray
Skilled: TE's, DB's, QB Looks really nice.

One reason I have no trouble believing an intern sent out the Crouch post is that I don’t think Pruitt is even sending out his own tweets today.

Yet at the time, post visit, you yourself believed many of them to be Vols.

I agree many/most of them would've been huge upsets. I personally never believed guys like Cain were coming here. But like I said in another thread, when you wake up at 430am and you log in to see AV (who is normally very reliable) calling his shot and saying this guy and that guy are Vols.... coupled with Hubbs "watching closely" or Simonton's "secret recruit" comments on the same guys... and then we whiff on both, you can't understand why someone would be disappointed?

If you're pissy with my take on today, I don't know what to tell you. I don't think I've been throwing a tantrum and declaring this class a failure or calling for heads.

But I am disappointed with how today turned out.
