You may disagree, but I think the Tennessee program as a whole has a basement of like 15-20. Meaning that no matter the coach or product on the field, you should be above that or you had a bad recruiting year.

So when you tell me we’re in the top 15 it just doesn’t do much for me.
Based on what? The state talent pool is well behind Georgia, Florida, LSU, Texas, California, etc. And what talent is in state feels disconnected from UT (Memphis & Nashville hot beds)

I think with a solid staff the facilities, college, and being in the SEC does give an edge but a bad recruiting staff I could see us outside top 25 year in and year out.

I’m now in full blown “believe it when I see it” mode on every top recruit we’re after
i think it's also worth nothing that being in on a kid doesn't mean anything other than we're a consideration.

in the end, there just wasn't much reason to believe eboigbe was going to come here. it would have been a surprise. he has been committed to bama for a while, he never ov'd, he visited tuscaloosa last weekend.....

on the tangible stuff, there definitely shoudl have been a "glad we're trying, but i dont' see it" type attitude. no matter what chatter was being put out there, none of it changed what had actually happened as far as his recruitment goes.

and in today's social media age and some recruit's need for attention, you just can't put much stock in what is being floated around on social media.

people think it's being negative. i just look at it as "what's the evidence say?". and while you can get your hopes up, just remember, they're hopes. (i got mine up too)

this class is going to finish a lot like many of us have thought....somewhere in the 12ish range, give or take.

it's not bad. and people will b**tch and moan today about what we DIDN'T get, but in a few days, or by February, we'll get back around to what we DID get. and realize, that it's pretty good.

it's a process though, and we'll just have to go thru the next few days whilie we get all the garbage off our chests.
:)

AV is good people, but yikes I can’t take him seriously anymore.
AV seems like a great person and has done a lot for people around here it seems. The info he gets may come from legitimate sources but recruiting so fluid b/c these are 17/18 yr olds who change their minds constantly. I appreciate what he brings whether it is right or turns out to be false. We have to decide for ourselves what is real. Hopefully, the guys we got and get buy in....

It’s still not good enough compared to our direct competition.

I really am surprised at the recruiting struggles given what I thought was an elite recruiting staff. They haven’t been *bad*, and I’m not arguing that, but I don’t think we’re gaining ground right now.

Not saying it's good enough or where we need to be... but it's where most thought we'd be. We'll sign the bulk of our class this week and it's going pretty much as expected. The big misses happened a few weeks ago, with Pappoe, Watson and Marshall. People got hyped last-minute for guys who weren't-- and never had been-- trending our way. Not getting Gray or Wright would be a bad surprise and signing Crouch will be a good one, but otherwise, it has been low-drama.

Missouri and Vandy have been whooping us with classes a lot softer than what we are signing this year. This dude is lighting it up for Mizzou, and he was a low-mid 3-star coming out (of our backyard, no less).

Give this staff some time and space. We’re not making the playoff next year, but we already knew that. Need to try to climb back up to our rightful place as a perennial top-3 team in the SEC East first, and classes like this can definitely do that.

AV is Ben Stancliff- change my mind

Good gracious man....the guy brings info way before others do and it turns out to be true. He obviously has connections. This whole thing is real simple, if you don't like/believe what he says then don't listen. I cant understand why you are so mad when you obviously knew he was FOS the entire time. We don't need you to hold our hand.

In the 247 team rankings, there are 2 teams in the top 15 that did not go bowling this year....FSU and UT. Yet everyone wants to b!tch about the recruiting failures.

We're ahead of OSU and UF, and others such as Stanford, USC, and Miami.

And after 5-7 and 4-8 seasons, a coaching search fiasco, and obnoxious social media fans.......

Smdh!!!
Afraid there are some that just can't handle this logic and demand to have what they want right now because Tennessee should always be in the top ten. Maybe they need to go away for a few years and come back only when things are going the way they want it to.

Happens every year when the staff makes a push for a higher tier prospect. Same result every time it doesn't go our way.
