And on Saturdays when we get our heads stomped in it’s because we have to recruit better players first. It’s a cycle of excuses.

At some point you just have to break the cycle and exceed expectations.

Again, I am not totally unhappy. Just slightly disappointed and surprised about the recruiting struggles.

I can’t help but wonder if we landed an OC, or had a plan in place...it wouldn’t have helped create a little buzz and could’ve helped in recruiting.

This is why people give you ****.
Why? If you all are gonna crap on me for saying that, then I should get to point out when I'm right...I am not the one bitching at the staff for their hard efforts. It is what it is...a lot of highly ranked kids just don't want to be here yet...and that is not Jeremy Pruitts fault.

silver lining?

we didn't whiff on anyone that was committed.

we missed on teh big swings. again.

it's kinda a good news/bad news situation.

we didn't lose anyone.................but we didn't gain anyone.
good thing that this is early signing day....the coaches can work on some more big fish for the February signing class.

the only two it would have mattered with was ellis or payton and it turns out payton wound up kind of not being an option.

so maybe ellis?

Correct me if I’m wrong but y’all remember how lame that 2008 class was? Wasn’t it similar no real clarity on OC because Clawson wasn’t named?

Feels similar but we are I guess whiffing I’m defensive recruits too.

This is going to be a long rebuild. Prospects want to see evidence of improvement. When SC, Vandy, KY, and Missouri become automatics, then we'll have taken a big step and recruiting with follow. You can't consistently beat out GA and FL for recruits that they want. Sure you'll get one or two but you're not gonna recruit with them until you can compete with them on the field.
Yep fans need to be ready to give Pruitt 4-6 years. He’s a first time head coach and we’re a lost program. Firing him and starting all over won’t help us

well, yeah. and we're still in really good shape with Wright, Crouch and Gray. you add those three in and it's really not bad.

this is just prisoner of the moment stuff. we didn't flip the guys we thought we maybe could.

it sucks.

but it's not exactly like we "lost" anything. we just didn't gain.

Yeah, I don’t know. This exact thing happened last year as well. Finishing second for a lot of guys we wanted and we had an OC in place.

It’s the ability to close the deal that we seem to be lacking.

It’s still not good enough compared to our direct competition.

I really am surprised at the recruiting struggles given what I thought was an elite recruiting staff. They haven’t been *bad*, and I’m not arguing that, but I don’t think we’re gaining ground right now.
9 wins in last 2 seasons going into the HC's second year doing it...what more do you expect? At best I think 4th or 5th in SEC...Bama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Florida going to be hard to overtake without on the field success.

I'm with you on the second part, but the first part you probably need to look at more......or not, just friendly advice (not that you asked for it).

Pruitt and staff going through some growing pains- slow playing guys that want to commit then end up having to take lesser players than the guys they were slow playing.

Gonna have to find a balance in recruiting + win on the field
we are in no position to slow play anyone...right now. UGA and Bama can get away with it, cause they are loaded.

I’ll say it again. We have to walk before we run.

Selling 2-14 in the SEC the last 2 years ain’t easy. Everyone was all in on “this is gonna take time” and it’s a “complete rebuild” but here we are in our first full signing class and some of you are pissed we aren’t flipping Bama and Georgia recruits haha

Y’all are wild

Should have, and could have, found a way to beat S. Carolina and Vandy, go to a bowl, win that, and we’d have doubled our win total over the previous year. Florida got it done on the field after a 4 win season and it showed today. Vandy, S. Carolina, UK, and Mizzou will all take a step backward next year. We have an easier OOC opponent next year. We are going to have to find a way to win 8+ (counting a bowl) next year or you can expect more of the same next signing day.

Our class is still better as of now
is it? probably depends on what service you look at, and what you think of our chances of still getting crouch, wright and gray.

i think it's pretty much a "must" that we do get those three at this point.
