I’m starting to think our beloved program will never recover from the depths that the last 3 HCs sank us to. We can’t even have stability for a couple years with a new coach, and we can’t keep a strength coach from leaving to go to Maryland. I don’t care if it’s his alma mater or not. Maryland can’t sniff our jock strap when it comes to the level of program at each school. We shouldn’t lose a strength coach to Maryland...ever.

I think you’re overreacting. He’s a S&C coach and will likely make just as much money, gets to return home. What makes S&C at Tennessee such a better job than S&C at Maryland? He gets to return home, I assume (not sure) that’s where his family lives too. It’s not like he’s a HC or an assistant trying to find a better job

Switching it up is a non issue. The guys should continue to lift heavy and add weights to the bar. If the new guy prefers Romanian deadlifts instead of conventional deadlifts, it doesn’t set out program back a year. Strength doesn’t go away just because you change a movement or rep scheme within reasonable boundaries

It's not the workouts specifically that concern me. It's the intangibles that a good s&c coach brings, that by all accounts Fitz has. As part of the culture of the program. Everyone agrees that this coach spends the most time with the team and is a crucial part of how these guys develop Mentally and well as physically.

I'm sure there are plenty of qualified people that can lead the workouts, set up the schedules and develop work out routines.

It's the other side of the position, the leadership part, that is important, and not as easily replaced. Imo anyway.

And yeah it's be nice to hang on to good one and see what some continuity here would do for this program.

Very true. I live in wv and I really like Huggins for he is a no bs dude and would really like his take on what all transpired on Saturday. But I love UT and I think UT will beat WV pretty handily and actually coached one of WVU players all thru little league/travel ball. I just remember back when he was at Cincinnati and those battles.

I looked...I know which one is your brother. I don’t know y’all. Looks like he knows a buddy of mine that I graduated HS with. The guy who said he’s a statue is a HS coach. He is a good dude but loves to throw shade at TN it seems like frequently. He’s been calling our roster a bunch of frauds for 2+ years.

If Fitz leaves nothing you can do about it but move on. It's the typical TN perfect storm against us. Who had any idea that job would open up because someone would die. It's his alma mater. He was roommates and teammates with Plank. He knows Locks.

All you can do is hope Pruitts has a lot of connections in that category
