It’s still taking away “ a contract” from a kid that was signed by both parties with no repercussions. Then players are forced to go to mainly juco and start over.Baseball scholarships are all just partial scholarships. I believe 27 is the total number for college teams and that covers 35 players on a team. This is nothing like football.
If the coach signed a contract saying he would NEVER leave unless fired, you would have a point. They sign a contract with clauses stating how much they will pay the school if they leave before the length of the contract. The school pays them if they fire them. You want the player to reinburse the university for all expenses incurred during their time there plus recruiting, and their percentage of coaches salaries? No, of course not. It's two different things. I agree with the NCAA that is not in the best interests of the player to continuously be transferring for reasons already stated.If he agreed to a 4 year 20 million dollar deal and left after 1 year, that’s honoring his commitment?
But somehow transferring before graduating isn’t... Weird
Ncaa or anyone else has no business regulating “what is best for a student” (which is what they say their reasoning is)
*VN the whole year* “can’t wait till Pruitt tells all these babies to git and pulls their scholarships”It’s still taking away “ a contract” from a kid that was signed by both parties with no repercussions. Then players are forced to go to mainly juco and start over.
That’s way worse then a player transferring from a player.
Does a player sign something that’s says he’ll attend all 4 years at said university?If the coach signed a contract saying he would NEVER leave unless fired, you would have a point. Lol. They continuously decide what is in the best interest of the player and the university and the sport. That's what they do. And when they decide that the player is more important than the university and the sport, college football will be ruined.Does a player sign something that’s says he’ll attend all 4 years at said university?
Ncaa shouldn’t be deciding what’s in students bests interest
I was excited to be mentioned in a comment. Then I saw it's someone who doesn't understand contracts/commitments and got the sads.Yes exactly. Buyouts happen when a coach doesn’t fulfill the contract, aka commitment
@Rishvol argument doesn’t hold up
A degree is useless for most of those guys. If we’re getting down to it the biggest issue is that they’re made to go to college to advance their professional prospects.
It’d be like if I told you the only way to be an astronaut would be if you did 4 years as a welders apprentice.
Yeah but if you’re an economist you get something out of sitting through Econ 101. There’s literally no reason for a football player to be there.
Ik, and I’m saying they shouldn’t be.Lol. They continuously decide what is in the best interest of the player and the university and the sport. That's what they do. And when they decide that the player is more important than the university and the sport, college football will be ruined.
garbageThe NCAA places safeguards on the process to promote rational decision-making. Student-athletes who transfer are less likely to earn a degree than those who remain at their original institution; for that reason, it is important that the decision to transfer is carefully considered.
You have to pretty much earn your scholarship every year in college baseball, those kids know what the deal is when they sign on to play. If you don't like it, go to a smaller school where you're guaranteed a spot.It’s still taking away “ a contract” from a kid that was signed by both parties with no repercussions. Then players are forced to go to mainly juco and start over.
