Ok let me try and put it in a simple terms as possible for you, Hank, and Kingston

A coach is a Professional. meaning he is being PAID for his services. When a coach signs a contract they usually have something call a BUY OUT, When the coach leaves for "better employment" they usually OWE their previous employers a lump sum of their salary. Vise versa if they were to be fired for something that is not a fire-able offense.

A student-athlete is an AMATEUR meaning their are REWARDED for their athletic abilities. This reward is usually a free education, free room and board, free school supplies, free books, free meals, free healthcare, etc. Lots of items that are rewarded to these student athletes. They are an INVESTMENT to whichever school they go to, whether they successfully contribute to the sport or not, and as such have an obligation to the school. If they choose to leave the school then there is a punishment, aka sitting out a year for their perspective sports, and it should be enforced. There are rare occasions where it would be acceptable for the student-athlete to transfer but those are few and far between. Being called a mean name is not a hardship.
I’m talking about your personal opinion. You said players should honor their commitment to the school.

But it doesn’t appear you have a problem with coaches not honoring their contracts

NFL.com's Tom Pelissero reports the Falcons could fire both OC Steve Sarkisian and DC Marquand Manuel.
Owner Arthur Blank is apparently convinced coach Dan Quinn is not the problem. Pelissero mentions ex-Quinn Seattle coaching mate Darrell Bevell as a possibility to replace Sark. That would be perhaps the least-inspiring hire the Falcons could make. Sark's offense has run extremely hot and cold this season, going through an unstoppable stretch in the red zone before much lower-wattage affairs over the past two months.

Which is why the team that Arthur Blank owns is a perineal also-ran. Did the same thing with Jim Mora JR.

Even at the SEC level, a very small percentage are going to make a meaningful living playing football.
I don’t disagree. I’m just saying it should be an option. If you don’t want to go to school you shouldn’t have to. If you don’t want to stay at a school you shouldn’t have to.

The coaches do honor the contract though. They pay whatever buy out is written into their contract whenever they leave for another job. That's them honoring their contract.

I can't believe some here don't see the the consequence of players being able to freely transfer to any school they wish without penalty.
Lets suppose 20 or so players, all very good players that would have an immediate impact at any school, get together and decide to all transfer next year to UGA or FL. In turn UGA or FL dominates college football for the next 2 or 3 years, wins 45 games in a row and 3 national titles. Is that what you want? Because that would be what you get.
The same rule is in place in many places where high school kids have to play in the school zone they live in so that all the good players can't go to one school and dominate every one else.
Some may think it's an old fashioned rule for college players but it has a purpose, and encourages the student athlete to commit to a school for other reasons besides sports.

I don’t think he realizes football players are by rule, allowed to transfer wherever they want and the majority of scholarships are one year. Transferring isn’t breaking any commitment or agreement.

Signing a 3 year deal and leaving after 1 is following your agreement, but transferring isn’t😂
