The flip side of making player transfers a business decision is that schools may adopt that viewpoint. If players want to evaluate their opportunities every year and transfer if it benefits them, coaches could evaluate players from a business perspective and pull scholarships at will. That could hurt more players than it helps. Commitment and loyalty makes college football special. Taking that away won't change the game-- or most student athletes' futures-- for the better.

Lol it has always been this way. Coaches have “processed” players much more frequently than players have transferred on their own.

Agreed. But my faith is based on the Bible that says God created a garden in Eden where everything was perfect with nature, and there was mo death. Man allowed sin in which brought death and destruction. That perfect world will be recreated when Jesus reigns on earth. Until then we do the best we can, and it is always a fragile balance. Understand that few share my faith though.
This is not the place for this type of post

So...ONE idiot uses his right to free speech to make an ignorant remark..and that condemns a whole fambase? That is stoooopid. Fields is a freakin moron for going to UGA..that is all. If he wants to leave, he should pay the price and go...he is free to do so.

Bad choices have bad consequences..

Why is he an idiot for leaving uga? He is trying to make it to the NFL just because he isn’t better than Fromm (which is TBD) doesn’t mean he should be able to go somewhere else and try to get more clock and get drafted.

If you don’t want your players transferring then keep them happy and don’t build a roster where you have 3 high profile QBs. Problem solved.

They can pull scholarships. It’s happening at baseball right now.

He can go. He can sit out a year.

And most schools honor scholarships for players that are injured or don't live up to expectations. Make it strictly a business decision and fewer kids will be carried at a school's expense to help them get a degree or find a career. UT hasn't "processed" very much dead weight at all.

Why should you have to sit out an additional year if it’s after the season?

If you don’t like your current job and quit... you don’t have to be an unpaid intern for a year and then begin getting paid at another job.
that's not the same thing and you know it. c'mon. you have to have some oversight on the transfers, especially at hte undergrad level.

if you can come and go willy nilly as you please, it'd get ridiculous reallly fast, and ultimately it'd be bad for the game.

Because it is a deterrent for all the players that just didn't like not getting to start from rushing off to somewhere else which may not be any better for them. A lot of time and effort and money have been invested in them by the college and team which needs backup players not just starters. If the one year restriction is removed all you're going to have is chaos. One year is not a death sentence. It is just a deterrent to make them think seriously about what they are doing.

Way off topic, but apparently the person who does the signs for Tdot on I40, has a sense of humor.
The digital sign around the Rockwood area says, "Cousin Eddie said the Twitter's full, put your phone down".

I literally laughed out loud.

That might be Mark Nagi, who used to do local sports.
