He’s considered one of the RPO originators.

He is the first to use RPOs for intermediate and long passes. Almost every team uses RPOs with screens and slants, Osovet started using them for longer routes making sure the linemen blocked the run but stayed within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage.
Some credit Brett Favre as the first to run RPO’s.

Interesting. Never coached football, but someone explained Moorhead’s offense like this to me. The original RPO’s kind of read the LB’s, but Moorhead (and Osevet) went further to read the safeties.

The RPO makes it simpler on the Ol and other players. Qb has to make good reads. It’s effective when used properly. Eagles sprinkled it in to win a Super Bowl last year.
