You have to separate coaching from recruiting. Imo you have to make this hire with coaching way ahead of recruiting.

I'd see it as smart and knowing the effects of PR on recruiting

I don’t think you hire a guy if you assume recruits won’t like him or that he won’t be able to recruit effectively. Gotta have the total package.

I agree with that to a certain extent. However I was talking about what recruits wouldn't think about it in the short term. Meaning a few weeks/days.


Just could be something he didn't want to deal with the few weeks before signing day
