Pruitt does not generally play safe. Osovet would be incredibly risky, but could pay off in a huge way.

He has the benefits of picking Pruitt’s brain in scheming against a defense and would likely bring continuity for awhile, unlikely to move for at least a few seasons if successful.

Let’s be honest... Gundy was nuts in hiring Yurcich, and here we are a few years later, desperate for Yurcich. Maybe we’ve got ours. Maybe, we’re toast

Mmmm.... toast....

I wouldn’t have a problem with Osovet but if you’re doing that it should be immediately after Helton leaves so it looks like you’re super confident in the decision.
Exactly. Waiting until after Early Signing Period tells the world you are concerned with the appearance and you might lose recruits.

Matthews would be correct on this point.
It’s a theory, personally, I don’t buy it.

Easy to spin though.

Pruitt: “When Tyson told me he was leaving, I gave him a hug, and immediately walked down to Joe’s office to talk ball. After interviewing many other very impressive candidates, it was clear that the best choice to take our program to the next level was in our house already. I’m excited for what he’s going to bring.”

Nah. Just hard to find an OC that is agreeable to not bringing in some of his guys. This is the "fit" that they keep Pruitt is looking for. Sark fits the bill. As well as Canada.

I gotta believe that any proven OC would want to bring in at least a couple of his own guys who he's worked with and is comfortable with. I agree that fit with the HC is important, but it seems to me that fit with the other offensive coaches is just as important. You've got to feel comfortable that your position coaches are on the same page with you, teaching the technics, philosophy, and such. And of course you've got to be confident in their ability. IDK, it seems that would be a major consideration for any potential oc and may be making it difficult to bring in a proven outsider.

I am not for making that choice but

What if Pruitt has supreme confidence in the hire but knows it might not play well with recruits?

Seems to me waiting would be the right call under those circumstances

So newt has talked himself into osovet bring a good idea.

Bass has willed himself to believe it's sark.

Hank, bgs, and Kingston are having a battle Royale.

AV dropping nuggets on the big recruiting weekend.

And the basket Vols whooped Memphis, and the refs.

At least it's not boring.

In church now. Our Christmas services here are LONG, with so many games and raffles and such. Very Thai culturally. I struggle a bit. Lol

Keep up the good work! One of these days your going to wake up to UT hiring a new OC. It will be like another Christmas morning for you!
