This is pure speculation, but it would be worrisome if some of the issue finding the right “fit” is if Pruitt is telling these guys they have to put a governor on their offense like he told Helton. So when they kind of push back a little on that he scratches them off the list.
Again, I don’t know that to be the case. Just thinking out loud.
I remember early in the year, maybe even before the season, Pruitt answered a question about the offensive scheme with an almost braggadocios line of “I’m the head coach, I have the ultimate say on what we do.” Which, of course, is true. Just wonder if that’s rubbing people the wrong way.
well, you can certainly argue that point, if for no other reason that just lack of other, actual, information.
the only thing i'd say to that is when you do consider who he has spoken with, formally or not, they all have sytles/philosophies that don't scream power run, pro style, pocket QB. he's tlaked to spread, spread tempo, air raid etc....
siap, but i think the attention on 'style' is simply not warranted. i think a lot of guys have basic fundamental philosophies rooted in those concepts, but all of them want to be able to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. slow down when you need to, speed up when you need to, power when you need it, spread 'em out and create space....etc.
you get hte idea. how you do all that can vary, but at the core, on offense it's about scoring points, and stressing the other team.
so, i think you kinda go in to it with an open mind on "style", and really spend more time focusing on can this guy fit iwht the staff, and buy in to what we're doing here.
