That's the spirit. We're all just guessing. No need to take it seriously.
oh, i definitely wouldn't take that seriously.

at the end of the day, i just think Pruitt is being extremely careful with this hire. i think he wants a guy that checks all the boxes. not most of them.

the rest is just speculation and for fun.

I can't figure out why people think UT uses elaborate deception strategies to keep big hires under wraps for no discernible reason. UT doesn't have a PR machine. Recruits wouldn't keep a secret. And the coaches wouldn't expect them to. If Pruitt knows who he's hiring, he's keeping it to himself.
Yea no way recruits know

Imo Pruitt and Fulmer know but that's it

So if nothing is announced by late next week, then its probably an NFL guy, or Cheney, since his contract is up at the EOM? I really doubt its Sark, that is just too obvious...fits the scenario too much.

this is probably as close to the truth there is.

it's just not very much fun to talk about.

lol.

Do we still follow this playbook if the candidate doesn't use a playbook?

We don't let candidates dictate how we run this thing. We do this on our terms.

We dictate the tempo, hide our schemes, run motion pre-agreement, use mid-search misdirection. We also go no-huddle so they can't leak, but we also work the clock while on the line for maximum search control and confusion.

This ain't Sexton's OC search.

I could be way off but I feel like our OC comes from the situation at Georgia. Coley was promoted to co OC with Chaney last off-season but they still allowed Chaney to call plays. Coley is their superstar recruiter and is highly coveted.

The CO- OC situation there can’t last long. They either have to let Coley call plays before somebody uses that as leverage to hire him to their staff. But to do that Chaney would get squeezed out. If I’m Pruitt I’m forcing Georgia’s hand in that situation by going to Coley and offering full OC duties. If Georgia matches Chaney becomes available and you pick him up instead.

It’s the same thing that stirs the Gruden stuff every 4 years. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this.

I think part of it is that we have a huge fan base hungry for any good news. So that hunger makes them gullible.

I also think we have a ton of boosters/administrators/insiders who love attention and like to stir the pot. So they all compete against each other to see who can promote the craziest rumor.

Also, people want to believe their “leaders” (I use that loosely) are competent. So when no news gets out, people want to believe it’s because everything is being handled behind the scenes. “There has to be a plan! Otherwise none of this makes sense!”

No way Pruitt would wait for an OC at another school to stay at that school and recruit for them until after ESD. If it is a big hire, then he may have some recruits he could influence to come to TN. Tells me it has to be a NFL guy or a trot hire that doesn’t have SEC level recruits to bring to TN.

Not saying I agree/disagree but I love definitive statements like this about someone you don't know and you propably have never even met in passing..

I would have agreed with this until reading where Sherrer was actually allowed to come recruit for us on campus while still Being a coach for georgia last year and even missing practice for them.

That means Kirby and Pruitt obviously have a unique working relationship. Woudnt surprise me at all if it's Chaney and those two have it worked out until after signing day or even the bowl game

i think there's a lot to this post. GA hasn't extended Cheney, and there's no urgency whatsoever.

the reason, they're going to promote Corely. i have a hard time believing that Corely hasn't been at least contacted by some of these schools looking for an OC, and that he's not been talked about at any of them likely means it never got past the guague interest phase.

cause he knows what's up. cheney will be available and corely will be ga's new OC/QB coach.

does that mean anything to us? not sure. i'm not convinced Cheney is what Pruitt wants. but there are dots you could connect to that make sens for him windin up here.

none of it makes any sens as far as why you wouldn't announce that if that's the case, especially since we're competing with GA for several prospects.

which is why at hte end of the day, i don't think it's Cheney. if it was, there'd be a lot more smoke.

Hubbs says that sark wasn’t very impressive to some during his time in Bama. Whatever that means. Maybe Pruitt doesn’t think that highly of him?

Unless, by not having that 10th spot filled yet, he is getting the benefit of one of the best recruiters/closers out on the road for him. It just so happens to be his boss and a HOF, national champion former coach and current AD. Not many hires out there going to ring the bell in recruiting like Phil. Just a hunch...

With all the bogus info out there (pretty much all of it) I wonder how many would believe a recruit if he said something in passing and how serious it would be taken. VolNation does what it does no matter so it opinion doesn't count...

Just curious...

I don't get post like this

They just finished the same record as us and willie got a signature win.

They are out recruiting us so I don't understand why seem to think we are in such a good place and they aren't

I would like this strategy if it worked.

Yeah that sounded more like he's trying to build drama but still sticking with UGA. Hope I'm wrong.
That's exactly what it sounds like to me. He's also close to Nolan who is close to Sherrer and a troll himself. Trez is in Athens this weekend. If he doesn't commit then we stand a chance. I'm not hoping.

TM is already committed to UGA. if he was coming to Knoxville this weekend, i'd be waaaay more on board with this whole flip thing.

i don't buy this at all. he's just reminding GA that he has options. that's it.

Man...

Y'all take someone's thoughts and go wild. Has anyone with any semblance of a reputation mentioned Rush Probst? The answer is no. No, they haven't.

Chiiiiiilllllll.

JP put together a damn good staff when he was hired. There's nothing out there that would suggest that he won't do the same this time. Yes, it's taken a while but I'd rather him take his time and get it right (seems like I've posted that before).

Sark has experience. From the get go we’ve said that’s the most important thing about this hire. No experiments. So he has that going for him

Completely agree. He’s been successful and failed as a head coach. So he knows both. Also working in the NFL. He honestly checks all of the boxes maybe more than any other candidate.

Well if he called the plays at USC and Wash then maybe he’s better than I think. But why is he so predictable and atrocious in Atl with one of the best offensive talent in the league?
They have no running game. They are behind every game for their d sucks. There coach sucks and can not win a big game. Matt Ryan makes very bad decisions in the passing game cause they try to get the ball to Jones (which is not a bad thing) to keep him happy. I do not know it is all sark but maybe he does do not fit with all the nfl egos.
