I honestly don't think Propst would go from being one of the most successful high school coaches in history to analyst.

There's little advantage to UT holding off announcing a new OC so he can receive a bonus at another school. Bowl bonuses aren't that big for assistants and if a coach's contract is set to expire at the end of the year, the remaining salary due will be around two weeks pay (and it's usually a % of that). For highly-paid OCs, that's probably under $10K-- small potatoes to UT.

The real cost of a deferred announcement is the potential loss of early signees, especially offensive playmakers who'll want to know how they're going to fit into a new offensive scheme.

Posted in another thread,but they may have a Nda in place..Non disclosure aggrement.Be the best way to keep the hire hush hush.Tell a couple top recruits keep the panic down,make every one involved sign the NDA.If their was a hire this only way I could think they keep it quiet.Jmo

If Pruitt is geared like I think he is, of course he's going after someone who is successful, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are competing for a high-level bowl or playoff championship. The dude can't stand losing. He reminds me of my little brother who would work every advantage to compete. I would be shocked if it is not someone we recognize as giving us a significant upgrade in experience and level of success.

I posted this earlier but I’ll repeat it: the simplest answer is usually the correct one. We haven’t announced anything because there’s nothing to announce.

We are still searching for our offensive coordinator.

yep. for all the speculation, i'm just not coming up with any really solid reason to hold off on the announcement.

we either are still looking or still trying to figure out logisitcs of the deal.....and one thing i didn't mention earlier, and i'll mention it now, is if we are trying to find a place for Pittman let's say, then maybe part of the deal is we're trying to find a soft landing spot for the staff member that's being replaced, and there's a hold up on that?

i'm getting pretty deep now.....and i realize that. but if what DM said is true, and it's 95% done, then there's any number of things that could represent that 5% not done.

I think Pruitt has been talking to a lot of offensive guys, getting different takes on how the offense can evolve as seamlessly as possible. Saban and Fulmer like to pick people’s brains, so Pruitt probably sees value in doing that. Scheme is important, but IMO, trust is the driver. UT is going to have to hire the guy that Pruitt thinks is the right fit for what he wants to do and the staff he already has in place. It's the quickest path to winning.

Ok, so my criticism of Helton after the UF game plan should probably be shifted to Pruitt. 20+ run plays on first down. JP, we don't have Bama level players...yet.

Pittman wouldn’t be coming along. He’s an institution down at UGA now. Chaney and he aren’t package deals. He arrived at UT in Chaney’s last season, they got fired together and ended up being snapped up by Bielema at Arkansas. Chaney left him behind at Arkansas when he departed for Pitt and UGA values Pittman even more. Plus his relationships with those loaded OL’s are more solid than any group he’s ever coached. Why would he leave?

Occam's razor. Pruitt could still be deciding what he wants-- the precursor to who he wants.

They took him off QB’s after last season. Could have been the beginning of the discontent. Would have poured salt on extension talks.

I agree Pittman is more valued by UGA and he is rolling down there. I forgot they split up after Arky. I like Chaney but I would want the package deal and some how work it out to where we keep Friend and add Pittman. That would fix our OL issues...
