What about Fedora?

Good coach. Won 11 games at Southern Miss. Immediately made UNC’s offense better when he arrived there. Ended up winnning 11 games at UNC in 2016. Developed Trubisky. Not sure what happened the past couple years but he’d be a solid OC if he’s not burned out.
i'll tell you what happened. I live in Durham and have since 2010. Fedora wouldn't give up the reigns to the offense, being that offense-sided genius that he is. He couldn't recruit to his offense and never recruited to make his defense stand up to 3 and outs. You don't score or you score quick, not leaving your defense time to rest and you get a poor defense. That's why Chizik left.

Next, Fedora couldn't recruit, especially instate. If you can't coach, relinquish some control on offense and ignore the defense, you are bait. He didn't connect to the high school coaches instate and now Mack is reestablishing that pipeline. Just look at UNC decommits under Fedora vs recommits under Brown. There's only one coach so far in the ACC who can take 2-3 stars and "coach them up" and that's Cutcliff at dook. Hate that he's not at UT.

He briefly considered the UT opening before we hired Butch and he is a good guy. Not real sure what happened in Chapel Hill the last couple of years but he hasn't forgotten how to coach either. He has been a position coach and Coordinator at Florida and Ok State and a head coach at Southern Miss so not like he would be blindsided by big boy football. I honestly don't know where he went off the rails at UNC but I know guys that played for him and he is a sharp dude. We could do worse for sure...

No doubt he did some things wrong, but how many guys have been able to lead two different programs to an 11-win season? He can’t be a complete moron.

He's apparently a candidate for FSU, but they can't have both him and Briles.

Thoughts?
Pros?
Cons?
He got a $12 million buyout - $3 million a year for four years - from UNC. Don’t know about any penalties or restrictions for taking another job, but he might not be looking for another job anytime soon?

He was a great candidate until his "body of work" at North Carolina resembled a spineless jellyfish with a spear laceration baking in the hot sun on some surface coral, smelling like bad kelp!

But I digress.

He also turned down an offer to be our HC after Dooley, allegedly.

He had been at UNC one season, that’s why he said no...he’d be a heck of a hire, was an amazing OC but when yer the HC and things start heading south, it goes fast if you can’t recruit at a high level. There would be much worse hires and he’d stay around for 2-3 years at a min.

And Southern Miss BOT was very happy to see him go (per a close friend on the BOT). He was toxic.

Hey how about this. Why don't we just start looking at every fired coach for the last 20 years and offer them a job?

?? The guy put up LEGIT offenses as an OC and twice as a HC. Think he'd be best focusing on just offense.

Lol! No need to be condescending... I don't know much about Fedora, other than he used to be considered a very good OC and is currently looking for a job. That's why I asked all of you experts for your opinion.
Experts! 💩🤮

If we can't do better than him we need to shut the program down.

Eh? He regularly put up big numbers during his career. Certainly better than Canada and Enos, 2 guys people have wanted for some mysterious reasons.

But if we think UT is so great at this point that we only deserve the likes of Briles or Yurcich, I think we are being delusional. We aren't a top job.

I'm curious who you think is "deserving" of the almighty UT oc job...

Nice try, but sorry Larry.

In case you didn't know, the new OC has already been hired. It is Freeze. No wait, I mean Briles. Dang-it, Yurcich it is. Nope, just found out it was Lebby...ah hell, screw it...go ahead and submit your resume Larry.

We appreciate your interest in the Tennessee Volunteer Football Program.

Why, "not a chance"?

He’s just historically an average coach, he’s something like 79-62 in 11 seasons as a head coach with stops at southern miss and NC. I think we can do better than that in my honest opinion. Not to mention he says some of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard in interviews.

When your offense goes 3 and out, 3 and out or scores quickly, exposing a weak defense on the field for too long, it's easy to go from 11 wins to 3-9 and 2-9 the past 2 seasons. Fedora would not adapt and never had a true OC. His teams were undisciplined on and off the field. How does your starting QB plus 7 other players, 3 starters get suspended for selling their gear? The starting QB who is supposed to be one of the smartest players on the team. And he could not recruit.

But he's always been $ as an OC.
