Gundy can be More relaxed because his culture/program has been in place for a long time. Pruitts staff works long hours because it seems what is required to catch up. I'm sure it will never be similar as Pruitt will always demand hard work but he can give a little once everything is riding like a bike. He can't do that right now. That could also be why Gundy can't get over the hump to a championship

Pruitt isn't ever going to relax his grind and doesn't need to

It's pretty obvious he hated CMR because of that and loved Saban on the flip side

I think the first part of that quote “thinks he’s best o line coach in the country” supercedes that. Pruitt prob has lots of friends he wouldn’t / didn’t choose to bring with him. But you’re right, not great optics.
don't disagree.

we just have too much experience picking apart every bad decision one of our coaches has made. cause, you know, that's what they've done.

lol.

hoping he bucks that trend....really.

Not much new information in it. Was written in form of questions (from readers) & answers. Most notable to me was in response to a question ab the search's effect on recruiting that he said, "When I’ve spoken with four or five of the 2019 commits in the last couple weeks to see what they knew, I ended up getting asked questions about what’s happening. They seem to know about as much as you or I know, or perhaps even less." He said two 2019 commits said the staff hasn't mentioned OC position to them.

He cited 3 main issues to the (long) process: 1) Pruitt isn’t sure what he wants. 2) No one has been a great fit. 3) Pruitt’s coaching connections and his opening don’t cast a wide net. (referring to Pruitt's years at AL & defensive side with offensive guys at Bama moving up to head coaching positions)
Thanks

"friend of jeremy"(no pun intended, really) prevents hiring one of the best offensive minds in the country?

if this was Butch doing this....lawd, it'd be ugly.

inb4 let's see what happens before we freak out.

:)
Still waiting for an example of a coordinator who brought a position coach as a condition. Closest I could come up with was Chaney/Pittman at Arkansas, but that seemed to be more the case of Bielema wanting Pittman and taking a flyer on Chaney...and he was FORMING a staff anyway.

Look for a 2 gun, cowboy up, type of tweet from Yurcich any minute.

Our early signees seem solid. The coaches have visited them and it looks like a lot of them will be on campus this weekend-- not all of them, as hoped, but maybe half. But we've lost momentum with some recruits and aren't going to get them back on campus before early signing. The uncertainty is a concern, especially with offensive targets who're signing next week.

Sounds like Yurcich is having issues committing if the ball is indeed in his court, imo. Think about it, Gundy brought that dude up from nothing. There has to be some loyalty there. Especially since Bama and AU tried to get him last year and he declined. I'm not sure I could make a lateral move either, everything in life isn't about a bigger paycheck.

Not to mention working with Gundy is probably a hell of a lot more fun than working for Pruitt

you know what i mean. it has the potential to look really bad later on. im just putting on my hindsight glasses now, and skipping the middle part where we hope it works out, suffer thru some ups and downs, ultimatley to be let down, whilst watching every other guy we passed on do well at their respective stops.

you gotta admit...it's what we've got a bit of a track record for that.....

it's like we're in football purgatory lol.

Money talks. Not that I know much about OC contracts, but that amount that Hank stated, $1.3 mil, seemed low especially for a university that has used us in the past to milk raises for their coaches. Just my thoughts.

He went on to say it’s actually not that big of a concern in recruiting. It’s not helping with prospects like Grey and Wright, but it’s not really hurting, either.

Yea, I didn't get any deeper with my previous post. Although it may not be hurting, you would like a new hire to help recruiting. The time it is taking to make the hire is not helping. When recruits are actually asking questions and unsure, it just doesn't help matters. Not for me to speculate, but I just can't see it going on like this much longer.
