Lol

I think a lot might miss this but to add context I think how the news on jimbo to aTm broke was someone spotting his Christmas tree on the curb

And after being asked about it, Jimbo said the guys, who put up his tree, told them that the old one was broken. So, they threw it out and put up a new tree. Pretty funny.

These things move fast, so the answer might change by the time you finish reading this. That said, we know Jeremy Pruitt met with Houston OC Kendal Briles, UCF QB coach Jeff Lebby and Oklahoma State OC Mike Yurcich on Friday.

Almost by default, Yurcich is the frontrunner, and the best bet to get the job at this point, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen.

The former two didn’t impress as much as Yurcich during the interview process, and as Bruce Feldman reported over the weekend, the desire for Briles to bring his offensive line coach, Randy Clements, complicated the hire a little bit. Pruitt believes Will Friend is among the nation’s best offensive line coaches, and they were roommates back at Alabama. It was always hard to imagine Pruitt making a change at offensive line coach in favor of someone he barely knows ahead of Friend.

If Pruitt wanted Enos, he should have locked him up right after Helton's departure was announced. Most deals happen quickly... once the guy hiring knows who he wants.
Do ya think realizing he made a very bad call in gambling on Helton has caused him to be uncharacteristically indecisive? Because that is sure what it looks like to me. My faith in JP is weakening..

Imagine being back to back SEC East champions and a playoff appearance going 24-4 while having less attendance than a team that has gone 9-15 over the past two years.

BEST. FANS. IN. THE. COUNTRY.

WE DESERVE BETTER.

Except that the number provided for UGA is the capacity of Sanford Stadium. If they had more, I would bet they would be sellouts.

Another interesting point from Ubben:

Another factor with Yurcich that no one is talking about: The way Oklahoma State and Tennessee’s programs are run could not be more different. Mike Gundy is a quintessential CEO coach. He often watches practices from the stands. I’ve sat in the stands and watched with him before. He has input, but Yurcich does what he wants. And Oklahoma State cut way, way back on the amount of hours coaches spent in the facility in the name of work/life balance and having fresher minds when it was time to focus on football. It’s paid off in a big way for them.

Tennessee could not be more different in that respect. Tennessee’s staff spends as much time in the office as any staff in the country. That’s Pruitt’s style. It’s not to lionize one manner or criticize another. Different programs operate in different ways and can succeed or fail doing both.

I think that he's being cautious for sure, but not to the point of being indecisive. The fan base has nothing else to do but wait for the announcement and wonder why it's taking so long. The coaching staff is trying to finish off the 2019 recruiting class in addition to interviewing, evaluating coaches, and culling the roster to ensure we can get 25 new guys in here. I wish it were over with as well, but I can't fault JP for trying to get the best kids here as possible.

Athletic article out on the search but my free trial is over.
Not much new information in it. Was written in form of questions (from readers) & answers. Most notable to me was in response to a question ab the search's effect on recruiting that he said, "When I’ve spoken with four or five of the 2019 commits in the last couple weeks to see what they knew, I ended up getting asked questions about what’s happening. They seem to know about as much as you or I know, or perhaps even less." He said two 2019 commits said the staff hasn't mentioned OC position to them.

He cited 3 main issues to the (long) process: 1) Pruitt isn’t sure what he wants. 2) No one has been a great fit. 3) Pruitt’s coaching connections and his opening don’t cast a wide net. (referring to Pruitt's years at AL & defensive side with offensive guys at Bama moving up to head coaching positions)

I agree with this, but a search for over 2 weeks is unusual and a little concerning. Maybe he does have his guy, and they just have to wait. But, the opening certainly can't help recruiting unless they are being told who it will be. If they were told, it would start leaking out.

This is a concern. Now, recruits are asking questions.

I believe there are lessons learned through decisions that have failure as an outcome

I am sorry but he's already used his one Mulligan and life doesn't allow unlimited doovers

I'm pretty sure the point of life is that you DO get unlimited opportunities to fix or make amends for poor decisions while you're still breathing.

on the surface, yes, that screams "issues".

i think pruitt's reach is a little further than we, and ubben, might think. and i know fulmer's reach is a lot further.

i'll just say this, in my mind, there's little to no reason to screw this up unless we let personal stuff get in the way.

"friend of jeremy"(no pun intended, really) prevents hiring one of the best offensive minds in the country?

if this was Butch doing this....lawd, it'd be ugly.

inb4 let's see what happens before we freak out.

:)

I think the first part of that quote “thinks he’s best o line coach in the country” supercedes that. Pruitt prob has lots of friends he wouldn’t / didn’t choose to bring with him. But you’re right, not great optics.

Another interesting point from Ubben:

Jeez, this doesn’t bode well for getting Yurcich. I thought one of the selling points of coming to Tennessee would be that he would get out from under an offensive coach like Gundy and could have free reign over the offense, but it sounds like he already has that at OK St.

callahan or price addressed this on the radio this morning. (forget who said it honestly) he basically said that he believes if he knows who the hire is, he's not going to tell recruits b/c it is impossible to keep it under wraps.
