OC Search - Kendall Briles (merged)

Originally I wanted Briles, but the more research I do & the more I dwell on it the more I worry he wouldn't stay put.

Since Baylor he's been a one & done every stop.

FAU 1 year then goes to Houston
Houston signs an extension and now appears to be leaving for FSU

Really feel like Pruitt is trying to find a 2+ year guy, someone who will come in and fit in with the staff and area and stay awhile.

I fail to understand the reasoning for not announcing the OC hire. The past is usually a good indicator of future actions or behavior. I am thinking CJP is having trouble hiring an OC. I don't believe he has one waiting to be announced or an agreement has been reached with a specific individual. My opinion but I feel I've seen the movie before.

How are you feeling right now about the OC search? Underwhelmed, fatigued, bored with it at this point, fed up..... It will take the sting off the hire if they wait the fan base out.

I dont think he would want to announce friend before early signing because I think it would hurt early signing. With that said I dont believe it is friend.

You couldn't pay me to sign with Tennessee as a player or coach nowadays and this is coming from a 37 year fan. I hate to be the chicken little I hate so much but nothing has shown me that the program has any desire to be good again.

Lol I kinda wish some of these recruits would tell the staff to pound sand and come talk to them when UT gets its s&@& together

That’s a bold claim. There’s hundreds of competent OCs in this world. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say somewhere out there is a guy better than Briles.
Do you even watch college football? Get your head out of your a$$ and realize that our head coach and ad just let one of the best young coordinators slip away because the head coach would rather keep his Friend on the staff

That almost tells me Pruitt isn’t going to be a true VFL. If he stays 3 years and resigns before getting fired I’ll be very surprised. Betcha he don’t stick around for year 4...

I think Taggart sucks as a HC. I thought so when he was hired at Oregon. How he has made it to be the HC at a program like FSU is puzzling. Even more puzzling is that he is an offensive coach, and their offense was so horrific this year that their OC got hired to be a head coach. So weird. Anyway, you’d have to think if they got a good OC who knew wtf he was going then they have a lot of upside. Moreso than the immediate situation in Knoxville. Long term though, I like our chances w Pruitt more than I would w Taggart.
Really? At least taggart knows to bring in the best oc that’s available. What has Pruitt shown that he’s gonna be better in the long run? Did the hiring of Helton at $1.2 million per year make you feel good about Pruitt in the long run?

You do realize that was just speculation from a writer and didnt actually happen?

Maybe out of respect for the team he is coaching he doesn't want his name released yet? JMO but I think CJP and Phil are far ahead of us in this hiring but I can understand that we're all frustrated at the lack of info but that could be a good thing in the long run.

AU had no problem announcing their OC hire.

Keep telling yourself that. Bama just had their oc leave after one year too.
I believe you should bring the best guys in that are available and if that guy leaves you bring somebody in that is able to build on the foundation that is already in place. If Pruitt wants to run the spread he should’ve hired briles to lay the foundation. Everything that bama does now was started with lane kiffin. Everybody after just adds to it

Cool opinion.

Pruitt hasn’t proven himself to be a mediocre head coach. Taggart has. So there’s still a chance.

Meanwhile, as of 1:25 Eastern, no presser is scheduled per the FSU athletic dept site, and Briles hasn't been announced.
