Alabama promotes Enos

It is what it is. We have a first time AD, who's hired a first time head coach, and both are trying to manage a major college program. If you don't think there's a LOT of learning on the job going on right now you're crazy.

That's fine, but this fanbase is hardly in a position of being really patient after waiting a decade.

There's still some names out there. Matt Canada is one. Neal Brown is another. Either one of those would be fine hires. Then you can always go the FCS route. Find some hungry up and comer who's star is on the rise.

Someone told me they read in JJ Peterson's recruiting thread that we couldn't hire Probst for an on Field position because he was JJ's coach. They said they may have misunderstood. I know nothing about that. Do you or anyone else know anything about this?

IMO that hire can't be made, not even an option.
Remember Hugh Freeze to Ole Miss as a TE coach and recruiting coordinator? Michael Oher's high school head coach at Briarcrest.

Brown would be crazy to come here. He's if not already, on the cusp of jumping directly to a P5 school HC job.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The reason why Pruitt hasn't announced the OC is due to the backlash when we all find out it's Will Friend.

They've already said that they are not promoting from within. It's not going to be Will Friend.

There's some ridiculous people on here.

Logically, there's only two options at this point:
1. Pruitt has an OC that hasn't been announced.
2. Pruitt doesn't have an OC.

If it's 1, then there's two options:
1. He hasn't been announced because he is likely on a team who is preparing for a bowl, and Pruitt wants to honor that, and feels that recruiting won't take a major hit. Remember, Pruitt and Sherrer participated in their bowl games last year. I doubt Pruitt would want to take a coach away from the results of a season of hard work.
2. He hasn't been announced because he is an NFL guy whose season is still going, and has not been released from a contract yet.

If it's that he doesn't have one, then maybe it's cause for concern. But the fact is, none of us know that he doesn't have one lined up. So none of us have reason to freak out. Everything is speculation. Yes, we're likely interviewing people just to try to help "friends" out and get them raises and attention. I'm sure Jeremy just loves talking football with people. It's totally possible that Briles, Freeze, or whoever talked with Pruitt knowing full well they wouldn't actually take the job because there maybe wasn't a job to get. But when you see Jeff Lebby is interviewing for OC, all of a sudden, people know that Lebby is a guy who could be a OC, and he set himself up for a possible position with someone else. Just interviewing or having your name associated does a lot for your reputation in coaching circles.

So, everyone chill. Our staff is out there recruiting, and trying to lock up a solid class to rebuild this trash heap with. There's 3 weeks left in NFL season, and around that same time, the bowl games will mostly be over.

An OC is good to have, but our focus right now needs to be recruiting, and if Pruitt is able to get a highly rated QB to sign up without us having a OC, and Maurer is still here, and nobody is freaking out because they don't know who they're going to play for, then we all need to chill out too.

It's gonna be alright. I'm just ready to see what happens on ESD.

The embarrassment of riches that Alabama is enjoying these days is incredible. From CBS:

"Enos also has a long history of calling offenses. He was previously the offensive coordinator for three seasons at Arkansas. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Central Michigan for five seasons, where he compiled a 26-36 record. He's also called the offenses for North Dakota State and Missouri State, among others."

Having a guy that qualified as your QB coach is just amazing.

No doubt that there is a lot of OJT going on. I don't think either of them were qualified or ready to step into the jobs they are in.

You have to think ahead if you coach the Crimson Tide. People are getting hired because they've sat in the same staff meeting with coach Saban. The last few years we've decided to get the next man up on staff if possible. The fact that Pruitt and Locksley's replacement has come from within is not surprising. These guys are also great recruiters so thinking a few steps ahead keeps the players on board. It's the process.

It's not going to be Friend, he would have already been announced. The ones who believe the administration is slow playing his announcement to make it less of a hard pill to swallow don't understand how these coaches work.
