I truly believe this is an exercise by Fulmer / Pruitt to temper fan expectations. Let the phanatical Vol Nation fans sit a spell and they will eventually worry themselves into not caring as much as they did initially. Pruitt is going to hire who he believes is best fit and that is the way it is.

Ahhh. Yes indeed. I firmly believe that things are in order now. Expecting a big jump next year but it’ll take a couple more signing classes to compete with UGA.

Yeah we need to become a stable program again and then hopefully we can take that next step to compete for championships again.

He believes CMY got cold feet, said he reached out to Helton to see what working under Pruitt was like and the returns weren't good. Said he believes that Pruitt is going to bring Lebby up and make him CO OC with Will Friend. Said Friend and Pruitt are attached at the hip and Briles would have been here had Pruitt been willing to move Friend or show him the door.

I was just thinking that we're wearing it out and so tired of the search that we might feel more welcoming toward Friend, like an old familiar friend after waiting for somebody we don't know who never showed up. Didn't he coach a good offense at Colorado State?

Why? Briles has had wildly successful offenses wherever he’s been. Best coaches (see: Saban, Nick) have multiple offenses that adapt/evolve accordingly. I think the whole “Pruitt wants a prostyle 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense” thought is a bit misplaced. My guess is that he wants an efficient offense that scores points rather than going 3 and out after 2-3 negative yardage plays on the regular. Jmo.

So, Helton tells Pruitt he's leaving. Pruitt decides he's going with Friend, although Friend says he doesn't want it. Instead of announcing it right after Helton leaves and getting on with business, Pruitt decides the fans are gonna freak out, so he let's it fester for three weeks and then announced it thinking we will all be so happy just to have someone that we'll be happy and excited.

That right?

1. The same people who said Friend didn't want the job and that Pruitt would not promote from within are the same ones who told you Hugh Freeze was done, The President is blocking, Fulmer is blocking.
2. The fans will be happy just to have someone, everyone will act all pissed off until the Tennessee Fund gets some womens chess player to call you and you get all excited and up your donation 10%.
