Great respect for you AV, but the fact is Richt NEVER recruited at this level. Smart is reeling in Top Two classes and appears to be set to do so for a while. His only real competition is Saban and Alabama.

Whatever the reason(s), some of which you have outlined, it isn't nonsense. They are sucking the air out of the room in the southeast.

Again, thank you for what you bring to Vol Nation.

You proved his point by what you typed. He was saying nonsense to the poster who said nobody foresaw Smart doing what he is doing at UGA. He was simply stating you could see it a mile away.

The new money at UGA paid for the indoor facility, pushed Richt out, got Smart who can recruit and is an Alum, and started “convincing” elite recruits to come to UGA. They are serious about winning.

I am going to turn your frown upside down....but if I deliver you have to promise to stop bitching (by making negative posts) and just enjoy the wins and not focus on the negative things in relation to TN football and recruiting.

Its not ESD today and it sure as hell isn't feb signing period yet either...and the ink ain't dry till its dry son.
Just what the doctor ordered...

As much as I hate to say it I honestly think he has to take the Muschamp approach at Scar and just show improvement for a couple years, and the make a big jump in year three and four, I just don't know if he will get the time.

What?

6-7
9-4
7-5

We're not at year 4 yet, but I'm not seeing that big jump in year 3 that you're seeing. I don't see any jump. But then, usce always gets hyped here. Bottom line, I don't want Muschamp's approach.

I think the way the season finished with two demoralizing losses to Vandy and Mizzou is taking it's toll. If you moved Auburn and KY to the end of the season, I think recruits have a different view of the Vols. Couple that with not having an OC the outward appearance isn't all unicorns and rainbows. I'm confident opposing coaches are capitalizing on our misfortune by painting a grim outlook.

Oh but No No No, I've said our last two eggs we laid would have a negative effect too, but was told my countless posters on here that recruits don't look at that, they already know we'd suck this year... SMH. That's why we are trending still for so many high profile recruits! WAIT, NM....

In all seriousness, I think it has played a huge key in how several have lost interest in us and we are no longer in the mix/talk... Hopefully we can still get a few, but it's crazy how folks and media had us all hyped with flipping so many recruits and now silence and crickets. We've definitely lost momentum, which worries me a little about Pruitt's ability to close. We were close on several last season, but couldn't close (and had a legit excuse with little time), but now we've had an entire year and we seem to be fading out again at the end. Winning/losing plays a big role, and everyone should know and see that by now.

If I'm pointing out things that are disappointing me about Pruitt, I'm pointing to the fact that we don't have an OC in the heat of the ESD sweepstakes. It's not that a quick hire would have come in and flipped some dudes or brought in his own guys; it's that our current recruits or players for whom we've long been in the running have unanswered questions (I'm thinking EG here, specifically). We need all the weapons we can get to make these kids realize that Tennessee is where they want to be.

That’s why Tennessee just can’t lose to Vanderbilt with a bowl on the line. I’m shocked it didn’t hurt Butch worse, but a least we pasted UK the next week that year.

I understand that and while a few people may have seen what was coming, this board is full of "Smart can't beat Pruitt" and stuff like Smart not being able to beat Butch, etc.

Claiming it is nonsense that no one foresaw what is happening is nonsense in and of itself. How many on here would have not laughed their tails off if three years ago someone had posted UGA would beat Bama handily for a number one class, take'em to OT in the Natty, lead them at the end of the 3rd in the SECCG the next year and on Bama's heels for #1 of another recruiting cycle. Anyone posting that would have been roundly ridiculed, so no, I do not believe it was foreseen.

(Caveat: I have only been a member for just over a year. If people were making those predictions here three years ago, I will have Tabasco with my crow please)

That last game leaves the taste that recruits will carry for the next few weeks and months. If you win it's a good taste. If it's a loss it's a bad taste.

Some on here can not figure out. I totally understand your frustration and the Debbie downers onnhere like to pick out certain people and unfortunately they sometimes pick ones that go out and give worthy information like yourself and some others. It is the volnation way. Please keep all in the loop! I appreciate it!!

We had three monumental whoopings dispensed to us this past year.

It’s all about the QB and OL.

Pruitt era starts when Bailey gets on campus and these OL get acclimated. 2019 will be sad again, better record, but I’m thinking more monumental losses like this year that will leave us depressed again.

Again, all about that QB and OL.

I agree to a certain point and it's not just that we lost, it's how we lost. It's the appearance that the players quit. It's the appearance that Coach Pruitt lost the team.
