Sutton was a gamer as was Dobbs. Kamara would have never come here if it were not for Jason Croom. So Butch gets credit for Dobbs and Sutton.A bit of a false narrative. The backbone of his best teams were not legacies. Dobbs, Kamara, Hurd, Barnett, Malone, Sutton.
A lot of them were instate however.
VQ podcast...It's trending towards Yurcich being the next OC. Not going to be Lebby or Briles, Pruitt didn't mesh with those guys as well as Yurcich. Price thinks meshing is a big part of this hire, not just with Pruitt but rest of staff. "Right fit" personality is more important than scheme it sounds like.
He sucked at coaching, but he built playoff rosters in 2015 and 2016. Dude could recruit, not sure I understand everyone’s revisionist history hereHis best players were Dobbs who he got extremely lucky with, Malone, Barnett, Hurd, and Kamara who he only got because he transferred out of Bama. Look at the least above. Butch’s recruiting classes were fake news
Most of the defense on the "playoff rosters" was the same for the 4-8 season last year. The only reason that team was ever considered playoff-caliber was because Butch beat out Arizona St. for Dobbs, Missouri for Barnett, and Vanderbilt for Reeves-Maybin. It's not like he was going head-to-head with Saban getting the recruits he wanted after his first year.He sucked at coaching, but he built playoff rosters in 2015 and 2016. I think the legacy thing helped, but we did get Hurd, Kamara, and Smith. Most of the defense on the "playoff rosters" was the same for the 4-8 season last year. In fact, Wanya would be far, far anyone in Butch's first full class.
