Call BS on it being done and not releasing a little info with early signing day approaching. If by some chance it’s Enos he’s a freakin QB coach in that program so it shouldn’t matter For their bowl game prep.

Sounds like our program is bottom feeding for coaches as usual hoping to find the next best thing, that’s why we’re in this position to begin with. Make a hire get the name out and try to bring in some stud offense recruits, the other scenario would be don’t announce yet cause the ones you have will leave before early signing day due to google name search

so basically the argument is that Tee is not as good of a coach as healy if he should not, in fact, take the job for the reasons y'all are enumerating
He might very well be as good a HC as Healy but there’s never going to be any proof with that decision making process. I’ve never played golf. Maybe I’m the best ever if I’d had ever learned? Prove me wrong. 😎

I don’t understand your post. Especially the first two sentences. Healy is a first time HC who took over a horrid program and won 8 in his SECOND season and “regressed” to 5 in his THIRD. When did he have time?
Healy’s second season (8-4) is what garnered him attention as a hot, rising coach. The interest was at it’s high then because he returned back to a losing record the following season. The interest in Healy was cooling off. More seasons at Peay and there would have been less and less interest with each losing season.

Ah I see, you like to peruse VN looking things to nitpick about while trying to appear to have the universities best interest in mind.

Attention RF: if you happen to see @Ace post ANYTHING about the OC search, make sure you remind him that it’s none of his business. He only cares about the good of the entire program. Smh...
i was wondering if his argument was that taxpayer funded positions should be shielded from any scrutiny? surely thats not what hes arguing? I mean theoretically anyone of us could file an FOIA request of texts, phone records, and emails from the date of Heltons departure and the hiring of an OC. The Mathews side would be shielded from it but not records of his phone number being dialed or received.. I'm sure some hint of what was going on would pop up from what is "missing" as well as what was actually there, no matter the carefulness in avoiding strict scrutiny

Healy was not established as a top recruiter in the power 5 rankings and a successful position coach. Healy has more motivation to take a job such as Peay versus someone with a established resume like Tee.

If Doug Matthews is correct, then these "interviews" have been pick the brain sessions. It would make some sense. We had trouble with these offenses this yr. their names being out there allows them to get up their price to other schools.

It seems far fetched to me but Doug isn't the type to go this far with something. At the same time we all did find it strange that everyone he was talking to was uptempo
It’s just hard for me to buy “pick the brain” sessions in the middle of the close of the first part of the most important recruiting period in Pruitt’s career. If he’s just picking brains, as opposed to having legitimate discussions with intent to hire, seems like he could do that during the upcoming dead period.

Fulmer was never HC at a lower rung program. Saban? Cutcliff? Kirby? Mush amp?

How does not going the route of a lower rung school define no interest in becoming a HC at a power 5 school?
Tee was attempting to follow that route, be a very successful coordinator at a big time program, get promoted or take a big job elsewhere after being successful.

Tee just left out the successful part.. he had a great shot at USC, really great opportunity

It will be hard to keep a new hire quiet once there is an agreement in principle. There are too many ways for it to "leak" and agents are usually a good source, with the favor bank in play. Better optics for UT to have it out there.

Locksley has been in MD since he was hired. He won't return to Bama until they resume practice-- next weekend, I believe. He'll juggle both jobs through the playoffs.
So if we are accommodating Bama because they functionally wouldn’t have an OC, well, we are mighty kind to our rivals.

i think u may have missed my point entirely, or maybe im missing yours?

i dont think Tee is better than anything other than recruiting in relation to Healy

But AV didn't like my pic of Chaney that night.
If it turns out to be Chaney, AV owes me a like. Or he has me on ignore. Could go either way tbh.
He would not like a correct guess because that would give it away right? But he liked my guess saying Briles was not the 1st choice. Probably to keeps us from the meltdown that we were not paying him at all cost to keep him from the FL ST interview.

He took over the OC position and shone for a few seasons before the Majors situation gave him that unique opportunity to become a hot candidate. That doesn’t happen and he prolly has to take a lesser job if he has HC aspirations. Cut shone as an OC 5-6 seasons and towards the end of one that culminated in a NC, he was snapped up by a desperate SEC team. Would “shone” be your first description of Tee’s time as an OC?

Go with the second one. If Tee wants to be a HC, he needs to quit applying at established jobs.

Yeah, if AV knows and doesn't want to give out the info, I don't think he would give any clues that were too close to home.
Following the likes is just a fun game, to me anyways.

If Pruitt and Fulmer are legitimately doing these interviews to learn, find weaknesses and strengths with different sets...then I think it’s absolutely brilliant.

Especially if they already have their guy picked out.

Interviews are about the only way you can get these guys to reveal their secrets

Either way when a coach leaves for a HC job it's understandable to everyone

Some would question a Move to a rival as an assistant

This isn’t a lateral move. It would be a promotion. Gets him back to being an OC and gives a better outlook of getting back to a HC one day too.

I wasnt arguing differently, I dont think he "might very well be" as good a coach as Healy.
