Nobody likes being told they're not as good as they think they are, and that holds true with this fanbase. It's why people have such a problem with people like Larry and myself IMO. Larry's been making that argument for years now, and it's becoming more and more clear that he's been right. Sue me.
Thanks for constantly making that point brother. Don’t think we would know otherwiseNobody likes being told they're not as good as they think they are, and that holds true with this fanbase. I see your point and can't say that I disagree.......Might upset some people but I'll throw it out there. Done a little research yesterday evening and mulled it over for a little bit. Here we go..
Tennessee's winning percentage by decade dating back to the 60's :
60's : 63%
70's : 61%
80's : 65%
90's : 83%
2000's : 67%
My conclusion : the 90's were simply and outlier for the Tennessee program. We are not a program that can be on that level over the long haul IMO. We experienced that success in the 90's when just about everyone in the SEC was lackluster outside of Florida. Since the 60's, there has never been a four or five year window in which we were the clear cut best program in the league. Never. It's incredibly difficult to win at a high level at Tennessee. Far easier to do it at programs like UGA, Bama, UF, and LSU. This is strictly my opinion, and folks can flame away if they please.
You realize that’s basically every program except bama and osu, right?Might upset some people but I'll throw it out there. Done a little research yesterday evening and mulled it over for a little bit. Here we go..

Yes we know, LWS is “gospel” and never wrong as you sayNobody likes being told they're not as good as they think they are, and that holds true with this fanbase. Price just said Pruitt interviewed Lebby, Yurcich, and Briles yesterday.
And I quote “working to find the guy that fits his staff best offensively”. Yeah way to go out on a limb there austin.
Understand the argument. Hate the argument.
It’s a financial decision, not a team decision, and that’s my gripe. Such is the world though...
Thanks to all the players who stick it through till the end
I don’t understand why you can’t have a high scoring offense and an nfl style defense... why can most colleges not get that? Either they score a ton of points like the big 12 and play no D or like us everything is “Pro Style” like why can’t you have a beast defense and a high socring offense I don’t understand.Price just said Pruitt interviewed Lebby, Yurcich, and Briles yesterday.

How do we know pruitt's style and why would anyone want a pretty good offense when they could have a great offense.... Hire one of the best offensive minds in the game or hire an ok/good offensive mind? This search is just stupid in my opinion.SEC experience, fits Pruitt’s style, pretty good offenses at Arkansas, and maybe some hope he could bring Hurts
And Alabama after Stallings. They got a damn SI cover for starting 5-0 in 2005. If Alabama hires literally anyone else, they don’t look anything like they do now.Check out LSU in the 90’s.
It’s more about finding the right coaches for the top programs and the top 7 schools in the conference are all fairly interchangeable as far as resources go.
Who knows what LSU looks like the last 18 years if they don’t hire Saban.
Nobody has been hired yet, and you’ve already called the selection stupid? How do we know pruitt's style and why would anyone want a pretty good offense when they could have a great offense....
