Favorite piece of Vol memorabilia or collectible

I have one of those pieces of the old turf that was ripped up too and it's special to me more because the friend who gave it to me died not too long after.

I very much wish I had the UT scrapbooks I made when I was a kid in the late 60s. One of its more unfortunate entries was the Tennessean headline and article, "Ole Miss 'Mules' Kick Vols, 38-0" from the "Archie Who?" game and the infamous Steve Kiner quote.

In 1980 I was in boot camp at Ft. Knox KY where Bill Murray was shooting the movie Stripes. I was an extra and during a meeting and greet in between shots, Murray asked me where I was from. I told him Knoxville. He took out his note pad and wrote out, "Vols Rule!" Then he signed it. Unfortunately I lost the autograph during basic training, but I made $75.00 for a scene that got cut out. I would have paid $75.00 to have had the note back.

Autographed Majors football. Got Eric Berry to sign a couple of things for me and my kids. By far the nicest player I ever met. My kids have claimed my other cool stuff for their rooms.

Some things my grandfather sent us a long time ago. Anyone else remember the 45's the band sold to raise money? The change purse from the '75 season was the last one granddad carried before he passed away. I believe the turf samples were given to season ticket holders before the change.

BUT my favorite is a one of a kind piece of hand carved wood..... it is a carving of smokey with his right rear leg hiked up and aimiing at a Bama helmet...... obviously the product of a liar's bench somewhere in the state.... not a clue where I picked it up....

At my first Vols game in 1974, I got Condredge Holloway’s orange and white sweatband (yeah, I know, kinda gross ), as he left the field after the game. It was homecoming against Memphis State. That night we went to the Elton John concert in Stokley. Good times!

I've got a collection of Vol football cards, total of 2000 unique cards of former players in college and pro uniforms. I probably have that many doubles as well. If anyone is interested message me.

Also have a Bruce Pearl signed basketball that I'm kinda fond of.

Also have a Jason Witten signed 8 x 10 framed photo in UT uniform of course.

My favorite was a helmet signed by the entire 1998 national championship team...however I lost it due to a break in and also lost a lot of other valuable memorabilia...I haven't found another one like it.

I have quite a few things that I am very proud of and display proudly in my "Orange Room" First up is a mini helmet autographed by Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Heath Shuler and Andy Kelly. I am very selective with who I will sign this helmet. Its open to Condredge Holloway, Tony Robinson, Casey Clausen and Josh Dobbs if I ever get a chance to get them to sign it.

No memorabilia, but a memory. Knew Craig Colquitt growing up. Later in life ran in to him (no roughing the kicker puns) at a bar down on Cumberland when he was playing for the Steelers. He remembered me and we chatted and he was most gracious and seemed quite grounded.

In 1998 or 1999, there was a sports memorabilia store in Windsor Square Shopping Center in Knoxville. The owner of the store paid a local artist (from Monroe Co) to paint the helmet and Peyton autographed it. To the best of my memory, he painted two of them. The owner of the store kept one and he sold the other one in his store.

Correction: It was painted in ‘01.

Yep. Still have the change purse and those 45s. Also have the "Go Holloway" by Johnny Vol and the Orange Peels 45 as well. Good memories.
