Okay, so you think it plausible that Kendal knew absolutely nothing about his father covering up rapes while working under him? And you see nothing suspicious selling sex during recruiting? Easily arguable that there's enough suspicion to link Kendal to that scandal. Yet you want to hire Kendal Briles.

The thing is, suspicion does not equal guilt. If you didn't want Schiano because he was crappy, I'm fine with that, but people shouldn't keep pointing to the Penn State thing to justify it.

I don't know how many times I've said that. The fact that he also had the Penn State accusations made it worse and added another reason not to want him. I love the idea of hiring Briles. But does anyone know if he has HC aspirations? I know that was a concern with Freeze but I haven’t heard it talked about too much with Briles. I’m sure he will eventually but hopefully it’s at least 2 years away.

The judge dismissed it because Briles fought it. Schiano is apparently afraid of what might come out if he fights and gets deposed.

There was nothing for Schiano to fight. He was never in any case, lawsuit, ect.

Culture starts at the top and works its way down. Art Briles is almost certainly scum. Freeze has his personal indiscretions, but that can work its way down the line, too. Pruitt seems to be a guy that isn't going to mince words about sexual and physical abuse, based on the way he handled the Ryan Thaxton situation. I have full faith a Kendal Briles-type would fall in line immediately, or not last very long. I hope so, anyway.

Main Stream media and some VOLS fans can say we are hypocrites, but Schiano was going to be our head coach: Briles will be an OC, and if he gets out of control, then it's on Pruitt to fix things. That was why Urban got such a kick last year.

You've obviously blinded yourself to the parallels I was pointing out. The scandals are similar. The difference is one is wanted and the other is not.

And you are clearly not listening to me either. I agree he's a crappy coach, but the story was about how UT fans outraged over Schiano's ties to the Penn State scandal stopped him from being hired. The story was not that UT fans thought he was a crappy coach. You are failing to see the outside perspective.

I actually thought the story WAS that we didn't want him for our coach because we didn't think he was good enough for the job and so some of our more aggressive fans used his "ties" to the Penn State scandal to destroy the man. The beef that people outside the fanbase had with us seemed to me to be that when we want to win we do not necessarily fight fair. They were scared. Nobody thought we could get that ugly; we showed them, or at least some of our fans did. Sometimes if you want to win that's just what you have to do and at least on that one Sunday there were enough Tennessee fans willing to give their all that we won. See, just because no one else wanted to give him another shot as a head coach on his merits (as a head coach) wasn't going to be good enough for our fans to keep him out of Knoxvillle. We had to go nuclear to block the hire. I hope they make the movie someday.

The concerns with some about a new OC leaving for a HC job...Any coordinator worth his salt will always be a candidate for a HC job...unless there are some type of extenuating circumstances. Theoretically you always want to be searching for a new coordinator because you want him to be so successful that other schools want him to run their program....JMO...but that's the way it works...
