If we need to make room for Briles OL coach its going to be on the defensive side, likely Terry Fair. Do not need two DB coaches honestly.

I dont think they cut Weinke due to his ties in Florida.

Is it just me, or is recruiting more unpredictable than ever? It seems like CJP and staff are recruiting so many guys for a auch a limited number of spots; they are also slow playing a lot of very talented recruits, which makes me optimistic.

Also doesn't hurt that Bama is in a true numbers crunch, and we are going head-to-head with them for a lot of guys. Trying to guess he we land from here on out is a total crapshoot, outside of Gray and Wright. I do still think we land one or two of To'oto'o, Pappoe, and Marshall to solidify a very good defensive class. What are others' thoughts?

Hearing KB may be on campus early afternoon.
I think the first interview has already occurred. I think him coming to campus this afternoon it’s to finalize the deal and be announced. I think this is the one who Matthews said was 95% done. I am guessing the other 5% was to fully vet him and make sure nothing is found that would be harmful to us, as well as finalizing the deal today when he comes to campus. I think tomorrow has finally come today, and we have our OC announced.

nothing has really changed except with Pappoe reconfirming his committment to Auburn. everything else is the same.
and really, nothing changed with Pappoe. he was and is still committed to Auburn.

i get the optics of it, and certainly my confidence in flipping him have changed...but it was going to be a flip.

structurally, nothing has changed to the class.

Yes, you make a good point that structurally nothing has changed, but there has definitely been a change in perception/momentum/communication/optimism on flipping/landing some of these higher-tier recruits... There was a buzz and the media were making comments about watch/watch for TN to close strong and be a big factor in several kids, and now silence... there is definitely a different feel in the air than several weeks ago. The confidence has definitely shifted. Hopefully the announcement of a great OC will pump some life back into our recruiting, because is definitely looks like it has stalled a bit.

I thought there were those that believe Weinke is already on his way out to follow someone else?

I’ve been to Maryland/lived there right next to the University for 7 months and no one wants to live in Maryland over Knoxville. Trust me. Especially that portion of Maryland.... it’s a crap hole.
Good point, that area is bad. Don't think it matters though because I doubt we're going to let Fitz go and Maryland can't outbid UT.

I could see Weinke taking the QB coach spot at Maryland and then Friend taking over as OGs and associate HC while Clement coaches tackles. Briles would be OC/QB. And be short a RB coach per say.
Would that have an affect on our OT recruits?

Interesting that some seem to think that Briles would turn UT down if he couldn't bring Clement. And that UT would agree.

This is the kind of BS we'll just have to expect.
Who cares! The media is going to spin any guy that we hire as a negative. They will find something to trash us about, so we might as well try to make a hire that is beneficial to us winning.

that buzz you're talking about is a little overrrated considering where it's generated and who it's for..........

this class will still be very good. i don't like losing pappoe, but he's not making/breaking the class.
still have 3 months til Feb.......no reason to freak out now.

that comes later. lol.

Fitz loves it here. I don’t see him leaving.
pruitt may handcuff him to a work out bench. i don't see him allowing Fitz to leave if it ever gets to the point of having to make that decision. this goes in the "cross that bridge if we get to it" category.

and this is what happens whey you hire good coaches/people. they're in demand. not a bad thing.
