Then who are the ones turning us down? Just curious.
Don't know that we've been turned down at all. I think it's just more true than not that JP is doing his due diligence in selecting an OC and to hell with what the fanbase thinks about when it should be done.

If there is one thing that I have heard over and over about JP is that he knows what he wants and won't let anyone stand in his way in accomplishing his goal. That can be a two edged sword but, given his track record, it's worked out well for him so far.

Quick note.

Last year, with Briles, FAU was 22nd in offensive efficiency (SOS) according to ESPN and averaged 40.6 PPG and 6.0 YPC (since I know how much y'all like to run the ball...) The team was 11-3, Kiffin got a big extension, and was connected to a bunch of HC jobs.
This year, without Briles, FAU was 82nd in offensive efficiency, averaging 31.1 PPG and 5.1 YPC. They went 5-7, and I haven't heard Kiffin's name once.

2017 Houston (without Briles) - 77th offensive efficiency, 28.2 PPG, 4.5 YPC
2018 Houston (with Briles) - 26th in offensive efficiency, 46.4 PPG, 5.5 YPC

This was the guy behind the crazy offense at FAU last year, not Kiffin. Best candidate available IMO and it's not close.

I like Briles alot and would be very happy with that hire, but is definitely debatable how much that dropoff at FAU is about losing Briles and how much of it is due to replacing him with a 25 year old Charlie Weis Jr

I would like to know who turned us down. Why wouldn't we hire Briles last week if he was a top 5 candidate? Something is not right here or else our UTAD doesn't know how to function. It might be the latter since we are becoming the Browns of NCAAfootball.
Why couldnt Pruitt just be out recruiting and not worried about the fans timeline to hire an OC? Makes more sense that none of the local media have had anything to share because there hasnt been any happenings to talk about.

Pretty sure it's mostly Briles. Kiffin is still there, and even if Charlie is terrible you'd think Kiffin would make up for that to some extent.

I still say it's always been Enos. I think CJP has always been waiting on Enos to see if he gets promoted, understandably Enos probably told JP if I get promoted I'm staying but if not I'm coming. I think Briles is a back up if Enos doesn't come.

Could be, but that 247 article spent about 3 lines talking about Enos and about 8 paragraphs talking about Briles.

Maybe to an extent, but there’s no doubt that signing that contract made hiring him marginally less appealing to any P5 schools that might look at him. Just seems like you would rather tell your lawyer to be “really busy” and take a few days to get back to Houston on the contract, given the circumstances.
I see what you're saying but, if Briles didn't have any real prospects for an OC job elsewhere at the time that Houston approached him, then why not just sign? Sure it was a risk, but one I'm sure he can live with. I mean, he wouldn't have signed it if he was opposed to staying in Houston another year, right? Nothing wrong with him staying there if he's happy or comfortable. He knows he'll leave for a promotion eventually.

Now everyone is going to get excited for Briles.

Then Lou Holtz is announced tomorrow.

Basilio is hell-bent on the story that Pruitt wanted Freeze and Fulmer blocked it and now Pruitt is going around talking to big $$$ boosters around the state and telling them that Fulmer is blocking him. If true, it's just a matter of time until Pruitt walks to the next stepping stone.
ugh. if people would stop listening, we'd have a better shot at getting him to stop whatever it is he thinks he does.

does the term "pandering to the lowest common denominator" mean anything here?

TB is a blow hard.

Yall are missing the forrest for the trees after looking at that article. It has been said that Pruitt wants his philosophy run. Also been said Enos in pretty much every article VQ has put out. Connect the dots

LOL, if Malzahn personally guarantees the contract? Why is Gus still even dealing with those clowns down there?
No i didn’t. If they don’t budge on freeze wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the coach at GT next year.
