Still a lot of teams that run Pro style and do just fine. I tend to like power spread like Auburn runs because it pretty much is still the I formation with some wing T influence. Definitely think when you are running out of gun you have to take advantage of RPOs thoughWhat won in 98 won't win now. You have to evolve.
Says if UT wants 5 wide and uptempo then he is the guy.
Eliah Drinkwitz ‘definitely the candidate for an uptempo hire’
If we had 5 that could consistently go wide I might be more optimisticSays if UT wants 5 wide and uptempo then he is the guy.

That’s my concern with Freeze. I’ve followed his teams closely over the years and honestly his offensive style is similar to that of Butch Jones. The only noticeable difference is how they use WRs. Freeze leans heavily on his better receivers and pushes the ball downfield more. You dont want Freeze then, not even close to smashmouth.
Or you can be like Oklahoma, just outscore everyone. Will it work in sec, well probably not against Bama, ga. But problem against most of the other teams. Only problem is we could turn into ole miss, no defense at all, worse than ours if possible. Maybe we could have beaten vandy . That would be a start. Don’t knock an offense just because butch jones wasn’t successful using it.If you want to run uptempo, like Jones wanted to do, you might want to have a strong defense with good depth. Otherwise time of possession is gonna suck like the Vandy (Missouri?) game. TN doesn't have the D yet to even consider it right now IMO.

Then why did they move to a pass heavy attack if they can do both?It does if you have the pieces to do that. Bama can do either now.
I don't know that they did. Being more efficient because Tua is a better passer than anyone Saban has had doesn't necessarily mean they have moved to a more pass heavy offense. He's just a lot more efficient than his previous QBs. That 160 yrds and 5.5 a carry come in handy Saturday. Then why did they move to a pass heavy attack if they can do both?
It works better. Its what wins now.
They pass more than run when the game is still undecided. There is a reason they pass more than run. It is what works. trying to win 24-14 running the ball is a recipe for disaster.
Tua is a better passer. If you think running is such a big factor he might be close in overall play. Your run game is much stronger with Hurts. He went with Tua because they thought having a better passing game was more important.I don't know that they did. If they have moved to a more pass heavy attack do you think that had anything to do with having a better QB? If Saban had Keller Chryst as his QB is he moving to pass heavy attack because everybody says 24-14 (or run heavy/defense type) is a recipe for disaster.
The pieces matter. That was my point.

With a capable qb and running game they have decided to throw more than run. I think that is what wins. Around a 54/46 split.
