Because we haven't had winners! If we win, then we pay. The only schools that simply "bought" a proven elite coach recently are Mich, OSU, A&M. They are rare. UGA, UF, LSU, AUBURN, USC, FSU, etc didn't pay top dollar for top coaches at the time hired. They paid middle dollars for potential.

Fwiw we paid up for Shoop ($2m), are paying current assistants like Friend top dollar, and word was we were ready to drop 5 or 6 for Gundy.

But why drop stupid money on guys unproven? That's only good for Sexton.

Our assistants were top 5 nationally. HC alone - 26th. Can't find source that adds them and it's too late for that. I think we pay plenty for so little return. Go win some dang rings or give us a coach willing to simply play for top dollar and you'll see us pay.

I am sure when you created this account a month, and some change, ago that you never expected a coaching rumor thread would create such an avalanche of emotion and negativity... Right??? Hello??? o_O

"Creating an account" timeframe for some reason is a big deal to people. I am a 54 year old man, not some internet wiz so I am sorry that I didnt create my account back in 1979. Accept my apology, when he walks to the podium, all will be good, and I will go back to just observing the board like I have for the last 10 or so years.

You guys do realize we all root for the same team, same school right? I want Chip Lindsay, I dont even want Coach Freeze for multiple personal reasons. Passing along what I was told by someone, not sure why on earth he would purposely tell me misinformation ON PURPOSE
