If Freeze is hired, thoughts on 1 and done? Or maybe 2 and done?

I would be ok with two years at OC and then handing him the reigns and demoting JP to DC.

It wouldn't be a 1 and done. If he is hired he should stay a minimum of 3 to build his equity back up. He has way more leverage in year 3 at 10-2 than year 1 after a 6-6 or 7-5 season.

Regarding Freeze, how in the h3ll did we flip Richmond if Freeze had him committed? I'd love someone who knows the actual backstory to share that one.

I would like to see Freeze hired and hopefully mentor someone while there. However, would another OC change in a few years hinder progress related to consistency, coaching chemistry, recruiting, etc.? Also, terminology changes, etc. related to the players "relearning"? That said, Pruitt should have learned how to adjust to changes while at Alabama considering Saban has so much turn over. Thoughts....?
He will take the first job offered and smiles as he packs his bags. Any buyout could not be very big.

Some have expressed concern about freeze and length of tenure at ut. As an ole miss fan, I have to say the rumors about harrison bailey and freeze could very well be true. Bailey has camped at ole miss since he was a very young kid.The ole miss faithful considered him a lock until freeze left. He absolutely loves coach freeze. The mannings were also close to coach freeze. That being said, I know freeze had regrets about shea patterson's future after leaving ole miss. I dont think he would bail on Bailey or peyton after them giving him a second chance. I would assume he would be at ut until bailey is gone at least. Besides, oxford is home for freeze and i dont really see him seeking a hc job anywhere but home. That probably wont happen again at ole miss. There also were mentions of sankey, not the ncaa, limiting his recruiting, so it would not be against any ncaa rules to contact the recruits he knows since he is not "technically" hired yet. He isnt a booster of ut either since he hasnt contributed money. He doesnt even have to mention the school he is leaning toward. He could just ask the recruit if they would be interested in coming with him. Freeze's buddy malzahn used this trick oh so many years ago with arkansas and mitch mustain. Mitch says give gus the job, and ill sign with arkansas. Sure looks like Bailey may have gotten freeze a deal.

Hiring a coach based on a potential recruit is stupid. It's like something a minor league school like Ole Miss might do by hiring Cutcliffe to get Eli Manning. The coach's ability to recruit is important but not for a single player.

It happens and other teams seem to deal with it. Doesn't worry me in the least.

You obviously arent aware of freeze's recruiting abilities. The guy got the #1 ol, #1wr, #1 dt (who was also #1 overall) signed in his third year. He has lots of recruiting inroads already. This would not be the only recruit he would bring. Kids just want to play for a winner who has beaten bama

Did you say single player? 4 star eric gray from memphis #3 apb decommits from michigan and anmounces he will visit tennessee. Its getting cold up in here. Might be a freeze warning tonight.

This! This has legs unless we just got really really great recruiting. I could see the SEC saying we will allow it just wait till after the sec game. Probably tomorrow if so.

Very rare coordinators stay more than 2-3 years at a program. What is the big deal?

Majors would fire his coordinators every 2 years and he won 3 SEC titles in his last 6 years.

That lack of loyalty got him usurped as well.

If we do well and pay him good we could keep him for 2-3 years. I don’t see many power 5 teams wanting him now for a head coach. If he gets lucky enough for a mid major or FCS team he would make more money at Tennessee with less responsibilities.
