If Freeze is hired, thoughts on 1 and done? Or maybe 2 and done?

I would like to see Freeze hired and hopefully mentor someone while there. However, would another OC change in a few years hinder progress related to consistency, coaching chemistry, recruiting, etc.? Also, terminology changes, etc. related to the players "relearning"? That said, Pruitt should have learned how to adjust to changes while at Alabama considering Saban has so much turn over. Thoughts....?

Happens to saban every year.. if Pruitt plans properly, it won’t be an issue

Based on what I’ve seen where this has been discussed in other threads, most don’t have a problem with the possibility of him leaving in a year or two. I think most would be thrilled
that the university seems committed to winning again. Hiring freeze would indicate such. We must keep in mind that no one has been hired or at least announced yet. I’m not counting my chickens just yet. I am extremely hopeful tho.

I don’t think Freeze will be 1 or 2 and done. I think he knows he’s in a good spot at UT. If Pruitt doesn’t pan out in the next 3 years, he has a good shot at being the next in line. And if Pruitt does do what we all hope we all know he’s a Bama boy at heart. If he’s able to get us back to the top in the next 3 years there’s a good chance Bama will throw everything they have at him to replace Saban when he retires. Again that leaves Freeze in a great spot to be the next man up to take over as HC.

If he would get an offer in the next year or two chances are it’s gonna be a group of 5 school looking to win and take the risk. So for him it’s either ride it out 3-5 years here and have a great shot at getting a big time SEC HC job or leave in a year or two and be in an 8-10 year grind to get back to a P5 HC job and hope the G5 school he takes over isn’t so bad that they kill his career.

Depends on his success in making the offense click. If he does well couple seasons he'll be a head coach again or Bama will want him.

Most OCs are destined for a HC job if they’re good especially those with prior HC success. He’ll be gone as soon as an attractive job offers him. Fine with me until then.

He will be here 2 years minimum. He has a mess of a roster at the starting 11 positions on offense that he can’t possibly make miracles out of in one year.

Very rare coordinators stay more than 2-3 years at a program. What is the big deal?

Majors would fire his coordinators every 2 years and he won 3 SEC titles in his last 6 years.

Doesn't matter. He will help us on recruiting trail and hopefully help us get to a bowl game next year
That may be the jump start that we need

Totally worth the risk. Go hire the best available, period!

1. If hes sought after in year 2, that means hes done a terrific job.

2. Ties to us means a potential future HC hire if Pruitt doesnt work out or he leaves for another job somewhere.

Good O C's are hard to get. Look at what happened when Cutcliffe left for Ole Piss & also to Duke
If we get a good O C, we need to keep them

If he's a one and done that would most likely mean our offense improves drastically, so I'd be ok with that.

Ideal situation would be two and done out of the two scenarios. Give us two years with Freeze and him recruiting or just what he brings to the table, and that will go a long year in upgrading the talent on the offensive side of that ball.

My logic with hiring Freeze is this, contractually how do we leverage it to keep him here at last two years? We need at least that out of whoever we hire. Also from Freeze's perspective, I would want to be somewhere long enough to show that I can contribute to a big time school while keeping my nose clean for a couple years. Just me talking and as well all know nothing logical or sensical happens during a Bold coaching search.

At the end of the day, whether we land Freeze or not at least this shows progress and wanting to go for the big name, we haven't seen that in the past. Just get the right fit for Tennessee, coach Pruitt, and our football program.
