We have a process for these things. First we wait for all the conference games to play out, then we wait a couple of weeks before doing anything, because, well.....Tennessee. Then we have to be turned down a few times. While all this is going on the decent candidates get hired and we choose the OC from Crapsplat State. My guess is we wrap it up about a week before National Signing Day.

I predict that we get our guy when the Detroit Lions are officially eliminated from Wild Card contention.

After our first 6 choices turn us down, Will Friend will be announced as OC on the eve of NSD. 😓

The longer it takes the more it will look like Friend. I don't think he's up to the challenge based on the OL's performance this year. Pruitt can't possibly be worried about being upstaged by getting a top of the line coordinator in here can he ? It and a good QB would go a long way in rebuilding UT while relieving some of the burden on Pruitt allowing him to develop the defense. Just my 2 cents but I'd offer Lame big bucks right off the bat. All he can do is say no. Stay at FAU and go 4-8 next year then.
It'll take bucks to bring a good one in. UT does not have a good offense other than 3 receivers and 2 RB's currently. Wright would make a world of difference if he'll commit here. The hire will have to be able to withstand the over-anxious fan base 'cause there simply aren't any miracle workers out there with the ability to turn this mess around in one season.

They won't have a choice.....up his $100K bonus on Sat and he gone on Sun. I'll ride with him if Fulmer and Pruitt go that route. They know more than us at this point. Could pull a couple of 'croots this way too. That'd be the icing on the cake with that hire. Why would he want to stay there for? They'd almost have to guarantee him the HC position to hang in that soon to be dumpster fire.

If we make a splash hire, which we won’t, we’d announce before the SEC Championship so they’d talk about it during the game.

I like waiting for after all of the big games and getting it done as soon as possible after that. We want recruits to see the splash hire if there is one, and we need to establish the OC position to get the process started. Whoever it is needs to have all their SH** in one sack before training camp.

I believe if nothing has been announced before Saturday that would suggest our next OC will be coaching on Saturday. And if he is coaching on Saturday, that would point to either Brandon Streeter or Dan Enos based on the names I have seen. Personally, I think either Streeter or Enos would be a very good hire.
