He already served his year punishment and publicly apologized for anything considered untoward as well as followed the proper steps for complete restoration. He's the last to beat Saban's Alabama twice and is recognized as the best possible candidate.

So yeah, if a glass of water is available and we're in the desert, I imagine the majority of rational football people would feel let down by a cup full of sand no matter how great it's advertised as an acceptable substitute -- and rightfully so.

You may be correct. I really do not know. I know that he wants to get back to coaching. He has ties to the state. He used to coach football at Lambuth university in Jackson TN. It was always fascinating to me he somehow found a way to beat team that were clearly more talented than his teams... He did it regularly. I may be setting myself up for another disappointment but hell I have I have been nothing but that for the last decade.... So till I hear different go FREEZE!

I understand the mentality that says "why hire someone who is just going to get a head coaching job in two years..." I see that... but I raise you a "why would you want to hire someone that no @%$% body wants to hire off of your staff?" Bama's sideline gets raided every year because of the success they have, Saban just loads up and grabs another big name to hang onto for a couple seasons. They understand that results most often come at market price, so you can't cheap your way into things. They don't sell a Ferrari at a Yugo price.

Lindsay isn't getting fired from Auburn. Only way he leaves is on his own. If Chip decides to leave AU it could open up Freeze to Auburn. Chip would honestly be a good hire. He's never been allowed to run his offense at Auburn. It's always been Gus's offense, which is why Chip wants the hell out of Auburn. Not even sure Freeze would take the AU job knowing Gus's reputation. Supposedly Freeze is Pruitt's #1 candidate but the SEC Office has issues with him being back in the conference.

I think there is a chance, the reports say if he’s offered the job they think he’ll take it. The question is will Fulmer and Pruitt take this chance even with the SEC highly discouraging it?

Something has to change. Pruitt wants to play smash mouth football. Chip is an air raid guy. Helton was an air raid guy. If it's Chip, I see him being micromanaged just like he's now at AU.

I think there is little to no chance he actually ends up here, but I hope he does. I don't know about you, but I can handle disappointment. A coach I hope comes to Tennessee and doesn't, lol, if that disappointment is so big that I'm better off not even just hoping for it? FML.

Yep. Exactly. So why would we even allow the SEC office to dictate our OC hire to us?? They wouldn’t dare to be so bold as to suggest such a thing to Bama. I don’t think we end up hiring him, but it should be our decision either way.
