It's a given that Pruitt will never beat Bama using that philosophy. I'm all for having a great defense but I want to score points in buckets. You can't come from behind using his philosophy in todays game.

There's bound to be some negotiating going on internally. Fulmer/Pruitt will probably cover however it works out. I would rather him than McClendon or the Clemson guy. He's got two other OC stints on his resume where he succeeded and he's worked in prime recruiting grounds in AL and MS.

I think Lindsey's $100K retention bonus is due at the end of the regular season, which ended last Saturday for Auburn. He'll have to buy out his contract if he makes a lateral move-- or negotiate terms.

Looked it up and posted article below.

"Lindsey earns an annual retention bonus of $100,000 at the conclusion of Auburn's regular season, which would include the SEC Championship if the Tigers are playing. He earns $225,000 for both his endorsement and media rights, for a total of $800,000 in annual total compensation through Jan. 2020, not including performance bonuses for a bowl game or a discretionary bonus.

If Lindsey left Auburn other than to become a head coach in the FBS or FCS prior to the end of his contract, he would owe all remaining money owed to him through the remainder of his contract."

After games where the offense couldn't run at all, he said that they're not going to change what they want to do. After Vandy, he said he planned and called the same things he did at Bama and they worked there, but not here. I'm not sure all that adds up to a distinct offensive philosophy that's pro-style or bust. Every offense wants to run the ball (minus a pure air raid style) and the Bama reference sounds like he's referring to the defense given that's what he called there (specifically last year when Bama walloped Vandy 59-0) and is also what he calls here. Bama hasn't been running a pure pro-style in ages. They were using spread concepts as early as McCaron's last two seasons.

doesn't seem to be anything that we couldn't overcome....assuming this is the direction it goes.

He has an impressive resume. Known Pruitt and many on our staff for years.

Last year at Auburn they rushed and passed for over 3000 yards each. Hubbs said recently that Gus has taken over more of the play calling/game planning and not let Lindsey do his thing this season, which didn't work out so well, and he wants out. Think Butch and Shoop I suppose.

I like that about Auburn last year; also, in '15, Southern Miss passed for 4200 yds, and they ran for almost 2500.

Dude is impressive. I'm sold. Bring him on, and then have him rent a room at the local motel in Marietta until Bailey puts pen to paper.

Brad Shepard post on 247...

Talked to a couple of mutual friends of Chip down here in Madison County and they believe it is trending in that direction for TN
