2. I don't want Freeze. I do believe he's a good coach, but I don't see how his style meshes with CJP's, therefore I don't think he really wants him. He wouldn't stay long anyway. And that baggage. For those of you constantly harping on how embarrassing we are (and I think for silly reasons), can you imagine the public trashing we'd get, from all sides, if fans excepted Freeze after what we did with Schiano?

Agreed to the moon and back.

3. There are no sure things when it comes to coaching hires, well maybe one. But especially not with coordinators. Therefore, nothing personal, but I don't put much stock in who fans think would be the best choice. But it is fun to follow.

Absolutely agreed. And I understand the importance of experience in playcalling, but I think it's being waaaaay overblown by pretty much anyone who mentions it as the primary reason for or against a candidate.

4. I trust CJP and CPF to get this right. They know how important it is and are willing to spend the money. But again, no sure things.

I don't think we're going to spend the money if we don't have to though. If CFP & Co are happy with promoting Friend, so be it. Everyone complaining about any candidate just because it's not the biggest name on the market has obviously got their priorities misaligned. At the end of the day, CJP learned something from his first OC hire, and will likely parlay that lesson into this hire. Maybe, just maybe, the answer isn't a million-dollar coordinator.

Swain said that the young guys on the team met with Pruitt. This is their team now. They are the leaders. That's exactly what we needed. That's why they're out there recruiting. This is a young team and we're going to see Pruitt's guys next year at almost every position.

Is there a link to this?

I'm down if the leaders are Gooden, JG, Banks, AT and BT.

Honestly don't know who, outside of Chandler, JG, and sadly Trey Smith, of Butch's recruits could and should be counted on to lead. Hate to say it, and include names, but this year's roster was so beyond broken.

It was on his radio show this morning. First segment. Yeah honestly, of the upperclassmen coming back, Chandler and Calloway are the only guys I have any confidence in. Give me the young guys. I fully expect Tank to take Warrior's spot next year if he's still here. We need guys with his mentality leading this team.

Lindsey, Freeze, McElwain, and McClendon If I had to bet right now it will be one of those and that’s the likelihood i would put them in.
This leads me to believe Lindsey is the far and away leader.

I just don’t believe this is a “search”. We did this 12 months ago. Pruitt knows who he’s going to call.

1. Oh the irony if we hire Mac. Our 3 most important coaches would be: a died-in-the-wool, full-blooded Bamer; a former Bulldog; and a former Gator. Could we handle that?

Not really fair to compare hookers with pedophiles. Throw a camera on a prostitute and you have a billion dollar business.

With Gus getting the restructured deal/buy out there is no leverage or stability for Lindsey. He needs to get out of there. He and Pruitt go way back, he was rumored to be our Ocoord before Helton anyway. It just makes too much sense.

I would be very happy with this hire.

Hopefully his familiarity would allow him to stand up to Pruitt when he oversteps. Helton wasn’t willing to do that and instead sunk into his shell.

I’m not saying I blame Helton, for the record. It’s a tough situation to be in for anyone.

It’s totally fair.

There is no evidence linking Schiano to anything. It was entirely circumstantial and weak even then. But it was a hell of a good excuse to keep from hiring him.

There is legit evidence linking Freeze to the point that it’s fact what he did.

We would get lambasted for hiring Freeze and rightfully so.
