You may be right, he may not mind if someone stayed THIS YEAR; there's precedent to support what you're saying. What I'm saying is, that was LAST YEAR. Pruitt had just been hired, and could afford to allow what he did, what he did, himself. Fast forward to NOW: Pruitt is coming off a 5-7 season as a HC; his offense was garbage; and he now knows what the life of the HEAD MAN is all about. It's cut throat, and if he's not willing to be, he won't last long at all. This is a very big, important hire for him, his program, his future...more important than it was last year. What I'm saying is, the circumstances this year, right now, are way different than what they were last year, when he was first hired.I feel like a broken record but Sherrer didn't do that
Each hire will have different circumstances. We don’t know if Saban and Enos have spoken about if a job comes up. We don’t know every coaches situation/ current relationship with their employer. It's precedent

I think it’s silly to expect last years hires to be cemented as how it will always be done
Yes. When they tweeted out that McElwain was the leading candidate for the OC job here yesterday I noticed there were only three tweets by that account. The one about McElwain, Mack Brown, and one about the Louisville HC job.The first tweet from that account was yesterday.
