I don't want a Scott situation again. We need a coordinator with experience.
That's all I'm asking for. Sure, I'd love it to be Freeze. But just bring me someone with proven experience. Chaney is not elite. But he is good and has experience. Id feel the same about Chip Lindsey. But with the money we have, we should be able to get whoever we want. Who wouldn't come here for 1.2 million? Heck, pay em 1.5.

That's not good, Bruin. Our offense ranked 112th, and a lot of that was due to terrible strategy and play calling.

Wait.
Weren't you arguing last week that 5-7 wasn't going to be a failure?
You have been all in on Pruitt lately.

For me Pruitt has strike 1 but hiring friend won't change my thinking on what happens next

I didn't argue that. But no, disappointing, not a failure with this roster.

I am all in on Pruitt. I think he has the same potential as Smart. But he has to get this hire right.

You would have to be hesitant to hire Freeze if you were Pruitt. You would hate to be on the wrong end of another Majors/ Fulmer scenario.

lol you really are having a hard time.

Riley was a position coach in the big12-then got an OC job at ECU- then OC at OU- then HC

He actually took an extra step in there so thanks for proving my point even further as Riley clearly paid his dues moving up the ladder
lol you never have a point so it can never be proven. When Oklahoma snapped him up he wasn't someone you “throw big bucks at cuz we Oklahoma!” He was a promising offensive mind from a smaller program...

lol

Hugh Freeze will never get hired here. The SEC stopped Alabama from hiring him as analyst. No way it happens I’d bet any amount of money.

Lol
When they hired him as OC He was EXPERIENCED!

Osovet isn't and that's the point

It has to make you wonder if Helton was already leveraging this and didn't care about the result last Saturday either. That may be where the rumor about coaches came from.

Helton will owe UT $860,000 in buyout monies if he terminates his contract. I'm sure Trace Armstrong will request that UT waive the buyout and they'll probably negotiate terms.

I thought that number kicked in if he left UT before Feb 28, 2019. If he takes the head coach position and leaves before Feb 28, I bet they would wave the $800K just to get rid of him this year. If it got nasty, he could just say I'm not leaving and then he would have to be fired and buyout money would go his way. It's a tricky situation and I would think UT would just want to move on from this situation.

first some folks reporting there is interest, now others are saying he's not in the mix... weird.

also, where is everyone getting Stoops at Auburn? Had he expressed coaching interest in the SEC if there was a vacancy?

I posted that earlier. He had both feet out the door and committed professional malpractice the last two weeks

This is our biggest problem. We are always hesitant and tend to over think these things. We hang on to bad coaches to long and wait to long to hire good ones. We can't get out of our own way sometimes.

Just hire the most promising guy. You'll be wrong sometimes and it won't work out. As a fan I'm fine with that. But after a decade of Dooley's, Jones', and Scott's can't we just try a different strategy and hire a proven guy rather than look for a diamond in the ruff!

I'm okay with not hiring Pastor Freeze just based on his personality and character alone.

I'm good with Chip Lindsey or an internal promotion of Friend (maybe to make more room/responsibility/$$$ for Niedermeyer). Snagging Enos from Bama would be awesome, but it seems like a pipe dream.

I'm pretty open-minded about it (trusting CJP/PF on the process).. but I am glad Freeze is crossed out.

Really glad there's no whacko contingent rallying for Peyton, too.
