"I think the Hugh Freeze stuff has some legs"

This board said heck no to Petrino during the coaching search based largely on his moral character. I guess when it’s an OC and we’re sick of losing then it doesn’t count. Right?
Yea, call me whatever you want, but I can't stand Petrino. Maybe I'm wrong but I see Freeze as someone who made a huge mistake. I see that little rat faced forker as that's just who he is. A little piece of chit, that USED to be a really good coach.

I don't disagree about Petrino, but Freeze didn't just make one mistake. The school's own investigation showed he'd been doing his "mistake" since right after he got to Ole Miss in 2011.

I wouldn’t call you anything but Behr!

That's still different to me. If he does it again he'll be be the same as Petrino.

I'm all for forgiveness n 2nd chances. I do not want our University tarnished with negativity but at the same time it's about time we join the club of all these other programs who do it and get praise for it. I'm ready to win again and complete on a regular basis.

".....all for forgiveness n 2nd chances" huh? You sound like the kind of guy who gets very evangelistic for your church right around the time, church league basketball starts up! You are all about spreading the gospel to 6'7" guys who can dunk!!

I can respect that.

They have soles too! Just a tad bigger.

I can see you couldn't comprehend what I wrote. It's ok I understand.

Well I just meant it might seem a little hypocritical or judgmental to some and I would understand that. I'd disagree but understand.

Just one of those things, I just don't like Petrino. I think we can do better as far as actual coaching goes anyway.

I don’t believe for a second that Freeze is coming to Tennessee. Would be awesome but I think Freddie Kitchens would be the first phone call. Pruitt is going to hire his guys and the University is going to avoid any chance of scandal if they can help it. Personally, I would have given Kiffin another shot but we knew that wasn’t going to happen. We also knew Petrino wasn’t going to get a look...probably a good thing he didn’t

Watch Auburn get him. I mean, we are too good to go get a winner🙄

The hard truth is that in present day college football you have to be willing to sacrifice some of your morals. We aren’t going to compete with the Florida’s and Alabama’s of the world by hiring unproven Dudley do-rights.

My thing about freeze is that his professed life is a complete fraud. This godly man is buying hookers for underage boys?

There was a thread recently about whether you would send your kids to play at UT. That would definitely be a question for me if freeze was trying to sell himself in my living room

I can't believe the university would be willing to hire Freeze. I have no issue with what he did in his personal life. I never had an issue with what Petrino did in his either. The only difference between coaches now and coaches decades ago is that the media exposes coaches now when they covered for them decades ago in order to maintain access. The SEC doesn't have a leg to stand on either. Leaning on people not to hire certain people has been frowned upon for years. The NCAA lost a huge lawsuit to Jerry Tarkanian for doing something similar regarding making it untenable to hire him. I only wish Bruce Pearl had gone after the NCAA.

I have to see some distinction between a guy who is renting "companionship" out of his own pocket and a guy who puts his side piece on the payroll at the school he's working for. Neither are exactly their proudest moments, but I can see a distinction in my mind for some reason.

You give men money and power, and you're going to deal with this kind of stuff. It is what it is.

I'm not real sure the hookers were for the players. Might have been what he told his wife though.

On a side note I've seen Auburn is meeting to discuss Malzahns future. Looks like some money people have been talking to a coach and want AU to pull the plug on Malzahn. We shall see.

Freeze and Petrino weren't fired because they cheated on their wives.

Petrino completely shredded University hiring protocol when he gave his motorcycle girl a job which could have opened them up to serious legal action. Freeze was conveniently able to be fired for cause for violating a morals clause in his contract that allowed them to get out of paying his salary because he got them nailed for breaking NCAA rules. If there was no NCAA cloud over their program, Freeze would absolutely still be there, either because he could have survived the escort story, or Houston Nutt never sues him because they never would've had to drag his name through the mud.

This is definitely another topic for a different forum but your first statement is what’s wrong with Christians. The idea that you’re supposed to be without sin is crazy and unfair. None of us have the first stone to throw. At the same time, if he’s confessed to his wife and family (he has), and suffered the consequences for his actions (he has) and he has accountability in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again, I’m okay with him coaching here or anywhere. As a former addict and pastor who hid my sin because I was so ashamed, it took the crap hitting the fan for me to get right. I did, and I’m a better man for it. If a man sat across from my son, humbled by his past mistakes and willing to own up to it, asked him to come play ball at TN, I wouldn’t think twice about it. But that’s just me. Carry on. 👊🏼

Urban Meyer approves of this message. 😀
