Freeze never had a great running offense in the SEC from what I can recall. His passing attack was great though. We will really need to have some great WR/TE talent though.

The Chad Kelly years were great but they also had Treadwell, Moncrief, Engram, Metcalf, AJ Brown, etc

He brought those guys in tho so he gets credit for that. It was his plan and he got the players in place to execute that plan

I do think Freeze would struggle to live up to the hype (which would be outrageous). I’d be OK with the hire, but I’m not sure that he’s the best offensive mind in the country or whatever people are saying. He’s a high school girls basketball coach who won with a loaded roster. But hey, our rec center pool manager OC did pretty well, so I can live with a girls basketball coach.

Oh yeah completely agree. I'm countering that with the expectations (right or wrong) that Pruitt wants a ball-control, run heavy offense

If UT and Freeze want each other, I'd gently remind Skanky that there is probably enough "dirty knowledge" on our staff right now to roast the 2 SEC darlings for a good long time...

I like the way you think. *tips hat*

If Freeze is a great offensive mind, he can adapt his system. Regardless of who coach Pruitt hires, he needs to let the OC tailor the offense around the players he has to work with. It won't work with any OC if he tries to force a square peg in a round hole. If Coach Pruitt wants a power running game, he needs to recruit for that style but in the meantime get the most out of what you have. If you have the personnel to be a throw it all over the field type team, then throw it all over the field. Whatever gives you the best chance at winning.

It makes no sense. Why a juco coach gets the knod over a guy with real experience is beyond me
You limit yourself. Gundy found his OC from JUCO on the internet...and other programs are trying to steal him.

The conference definitely played a part in that too. When you're playing Bama/Auburn/LSU every year 4.5 YPC for the season from your RBs isn't bad at all.

As for the players, he took over a team that averaged 16 ppg in 2011, and got them above 30 both years before he had any of those guys you mentioned.
