Hear me out. He joined Saban at Bama in just Saban's second season there (see the parallel?). He and Pruitt coached there together for 4 years. In that time, he was OC for two Nattys and an SEC record of 28-4. Runs the system that Pruitt is trying to install (think of Alabama's teams with Greg Mcilroy and AJ McCarron).

I think he checks a lot of boxes that Pruitt will be looking for.
His offense was terrible at Florida and he can’t recruit. no thanks

he also broke Tim Tebow, Urban Meyer and Florida in the 2010 SEC title game if I remember correctly. They held the ball for like 40 minutes and broke the Gators backs.

BigOrangeVols is such a troll. From the stupid, generic name to the Butch with cigar winking at us, he is designed just to piss us off. He'll post "he gone" in any recruit's thread just to stir it up. Rush couldn't even come on as a dang analyst. No way in hell he gets a shot at OC before any of these experienced SEC guys.

I think you mean, "From the stupid name he copied from GBOV, who has been around here waaaaay longer"

OCs don't have much of a role in recruiting

And I would like to know his role with the offense at florida. Did he call the plays?
Did he give total control to his OC? What were the dynamics there?

Agreed. Somebody make the case for the shark humper. All I know is his Florida teams sucked and Bama’s O has just gotten better and better since the early days when he was there. That’s not necessarily a fair analysis of his career; it’s just what comes to mind for me.

Sure but he does have big boy football coaching experience

I know there are exceptions but for the most part I think coaches need to be position coaches then cordinators and then head coaches. Osovet needs to do that before he gets a job of this magnitude

I don't totally disagree with this. But Osovet isn't a normal up and coming guy... He has been a successful head coach and left that to spend a whole season on the staff to give Pruitt plenty of time to evaluate him. If he thinks he's ready then I'm for it.

If we hired him straight out of JUCO to be our OC I would be more skeptical.

Although I do wonder if they named Friend OC if they would move Osovet to OL. Just not sure you're utilizing both of those coaches best skill sets in that scenario.

Need some of our gator friends to tell us who gets the blame for the florida offensive struggles.

Was it CJM or Doug Nussmeier - Football Coach - Florida Gators

?
He also built the roster that Mullen is winning with now. He has successful head coach experience and was very good as Sabans OC. I think people would scoff at it but eventually would prove to be a very good hire.

I watched some videos on Osovet's offense, and it would be straight up deadly if paired with the SEC-caliber, downhill running game that Pruitt seems to want.
