No. That is "Read Option", not "Run-Pass Option".

We ran Read Option successfully with Dobbs, where he would pull the ball out of the RB's belly when the DE crashed down.
Right, but there is typically at least some threat of the QB running in the RPO, because it is just built off of the triple option or read option type of offense. At the very least, you want a QB who is mobile in the pocket and good at throwing on the run, and able to make quick reads and decisions, since he is going to have even less time and space since he won't be behind pass protection OL play. JG meets none of these pre-reqs.

Wasn’t trying to say any of our QB’s are or are not equipped to run RPO. Simply that the QB is not the “run” option (at least not the primary run option).

I recommend everyone take any and all info/speculation put out there during this search with a grain of salt but, for those who might be new here, here are a few posters who have proven to either pass along reliable info or actually have it:

@HankHill (like his opinions or not, he called his shot last offseason and was as reliable with info as anyone)
@LA Vol (Reliable, consistent info bringer)
@Ron Swanson (bringer of all things TOS)
@Atlanta VOL (I will bear hug this person, and maybe fight back a tear or two, if I ever meet them)
@matts42012 (oldie but a goodie)
@Freak (I mean...it's his site, so...)

People NOT to trust:

Anyone who just joined the site and claims to have inside info...they're all trolls. Every. Single. One.

Anyone who doesn't drink coffee. They're not to be trusted. Ever.
Geaux has solid info too. Don't know if he drinks coffee or not.

Pruitt hiring Friend would surprise me. I think he's an oline guy at heart and probably happy to do that. I would think he's determined to see that unit improve, and Pruitt isn't going to promote him until that happens.

If he did promote Friend then he has to go out and hire another quality offensive line coach, which isn't any easier to find than an OC. I would think he would want that continuity with the offensive line. That's going to be critical the next couple of years.

Osovet makes more sense to me because him and Pruitt hit it off and he created a job to get him here. Seemed like he had this kinda scenario in mind for him eventually. Whether that's now or not I don't know.

Osovet is known for his offensive system. Which is all about symplifying things and letting athletes fly around and make plays. Which is very similar to Pruitts philosophy on defense.

I like Osovet. I couldn't stop reading about him when we hired him. He talked about having his offensive players playing with a defensive plyers mentality. He uses controlled tempo. I think it would be really interesting if he got the job.

*** Public Service Announcement ***

For a few of you on here:
In an RPO Offense (Run-Pass Option), the QB is NOT the "Run" option.

Carry on.
Did somebody say he was? The point I believe is being made is that on an RPO the QB has to make a lightening fast decision based on what he sees while facing live bullets (figuratively speaking obv). If you have watched JG attempt to "process" what he sees from the defense presnap and postsnap and thought let's see him run lots of RPO's then I am not sure what you were paying attention to.

I notice that your name is not on this list, so this post is unreliable and I'm ignoring it. :p

Does anyone think Helton leaving would cause any of our current commitments to reconsider their choice and also are there any potential
OC's being considered now that would boost our recruiting for 2019 ?

Then I guess you buy that he suddenly got stoopid like Bob Shoop?

Shoop having a bad year here then having success elsewhere doesn't detract from the fact that our OL rarely knew who too block most plays.

I'm not just talking about a man getting beat by a better man because of weak S&C and 260lbs guards. I'm talking about the confusion many plays, when the numbers were in our favor (5v4).

Not suggesting he sucks or he won't get it fixed. Am suggesting he shouldn't be in line for a promotion until he DOES get it fixed.

I have a weird feeling they might actually want Freeze. Most Tennessee thing to happen though is us dragging our feet and Freeze ending up at Auburn...... So then we just promote Friend.
