I would Love for this to be the case. I just Don’t think Greg Sankey is going to allow it. Saban tried to get Hugh Freeze and he (Sankey) wouldn’t allow it.

He would have to get approval from the SEC and I have doubts that he would get it. There were rumors that Saban tried to hire him last year and the SEC blocked him.

For real honestly I wonder how long ago Helton actually took the WKU job? I am not saying he bombed those two games on purpose. Although that was a couple of the worst game plans I have ever seen. Lets throw 4-5 WR screens to the wide side of the field begging for an INT. Oh and then while we are at it just just mix a few 50/50 prayers in there as well. I get it he was hampered by terrible OL play. Although it was his job to be more creative and find something that would work. Why Jennings was not targeted 10+ times a game I have no idea.

Saban was asked not to hire CHF. The SEC cannot block the hire. Right now, we have nothing to lose by thumbing our nose at Sankey.

Maybe, hopefully, CJP has learned from this season and realizes that he isn't going to turn us into Bama North with a few recruiting classes. If he wants success, he's going to have to try something different and since he isn't an offensive coach he will have to trust someone else with that responsibility.

Up tempo, vertical passing game, lots of zone reads. Of course, he had OL studs like Laremy Tunsil, too.

From what I have read and seen.. Freeze confessed to what he did, sought reconcilation with his family, and is trying to live a Godly life.

He and his wife speak at different events now.

I'm trying to get preachy but no one is perfect.

Everyone of us has done things that we regret.

If he's been really serious about righting the ship and getting his life back together,

I am all for giving him a 2nd chance.

Freeze One-Year Show Cause

Interestingly, Freeze is free to take a coordinator or another assistant position with no penalty, as the show-cause only applies to head coaching jobs.

FWIW, the show cause for head coaching expires in four days.
