Any system can be pretty damn good if you are able to execute it. Freeze recruited guys who fit his offense and he ran it extremely well there for a few years. We currently don't have guys to run his style of offense at the moment and would likely take a couple of recruiting cycles to get them. And that's provided Pruitt wants to go out on a limb (for him) and actually hire him.

Freeze proved he didn't need a world beater at QB to put up points in the early years and this is a rebuild. It is a two street. Having Freeze running the offense and Pruitt as head coach and coaching the defense is a combo made in Heaven. I would argue it would be just as great of a duo as Kiffin and Pruitt under Saban. There is literally no downside to hiring Freeze.

Did you see the Time of Possession for the Vandy game? 43:03 Vandy 16:57 Tennessee.
Warp speed on steroids is pretty much how our offense left the field on most possessions this year.
It would've been even worse if we ran a hurry up, which is what some of these names people are throwing out would do.

TOP is also a function of not getting off the field on 3rd down and not being able to stop Vandy runs when they were just trying to run clock in the second half.

The dude was calling hookers on a state issued cell phone. There are obvious "I'm an idiot" issues to overcome.
Dude he was simply recruiting new boosters. After all, Hookers have lots of cash and liquidity.

Right after all that ordeal. Now that it has died down, SEC won't block it. Technically they couldn't stop it as the NCAA has already ruled on suspensions had he gotten hired last year... Sure there would be the initial no from the league office, but since the NCAA has cleared him, we could easily take SEC to court.

UT will not take the SEC to court.

Sure there is. You'd be bringing him in to run an offense that it currently doesn't have the personnel to run, and if it doesn't work you'd put a ton of stress on your defense, which is also currently ill-equipped to deal with that.

I can see Freeze and Pruitt butting heads from a mile away. It certainly would be fascinating to have him come to Tennessee, but don't expect it to be a match made in heaven.

what kind of story line are we creating if we actually hired Freeze after Schiano-fiasco

That the fan base wants great coaches. Schiano was stopped by a majority of the fan base who acknowledged he is a horrible coach. The Meyer Suspension and him not getting interim proves that. There were the few crazies who hogged up the media and made it about Penn State. That wasn't the case for protesting him for 99% of the fan base.

Bring back BUTCH !!!

OK, seriously now...I would take Freeze, especially since he would be on a short leash with Fulmer / Pruitt.
My second choice would be Kitchens.

Dream hire would be Jim Bob...but doubt we have the resources to make that happen.

They should hire Greg Roman. They won't, but they should. I don't know if he would take it now. He wanted to be here at one time...those Stanford offenses of his could pound the rock. He's been able to run the ball everywhere he's been.

Freeze put formidable offenses on the field with Bo Wallace running the show early on at Ole Miss. As long as the line improves and it will by recruiting and experience, Freeze would have 3 guys at QB to work with. I would really love to see Freeze come and we get a grad transfer at QB. I do think if we got Freeze, that could potentially put Kelly Bryant in play. Maybe to far down the road but you never know.

At the current state of the program from an offense perspective, I see no downside to hiring Freeze. And given the lack of talent on offense currently, Freeze isn't a one year coach for us.

Some guys to consider:

Kendal Briles OC Houston Cougars 527 yards per game 47 ppg
Bryant Vincent UAB 403 yards per game 35 ppG

Briles has some recruiting prowess there. Vincent not so much. Pruitt has to make a splash hire here.

Freeze might be appealing to J hurts... wouldn't happen but would be fun to watch

We don't have the guys for a power running offense either. Do we have a better chance of out recruiting Bama, UGA, LSU and others for the beast OL roadgraders, or recruiting some outside speed and a dual threat QB?

ya know with a dismal ending to the season... the OC leaving and not being fired plus an opportunity to get a big name (although it may be unlikely here) could be the spark we need moving into next season plus the lack of bowl game helps us in this matter (finding a good OC and recruiting heavily)
