Pump the brakes

Saban went 6-6 in year 1. I’m disappointed like the next guy but 5-7 was where most outside Knoxville saw us finishing. We’re gonna be aight

And most IN Knoxville. Nearly every expert near the program said a bowl game would be a bit of a miracle. LWS and all the writers for sites had us at 4-8, 5-7. They tried to warn people this team did NOT have talent. But many of the LOtM buried their heads and then raised hell when it came true. Like they always do, ignoring reality and all. Just listen to the peoplr that actually see the team preseason and have sources.

Y’all can be negative. It ain’t gonna help anything. We can go back and forth. Pruitt isn’t Saban. No one will be successful as Saban probably ever. I’m just saying if the arguably the most successful coach of all time (by the time it’s said and done) could barely win six inheriting a better situation then give Pruitt a break for the love of all things orange

Inheriting a better situation than Pruitt??
So rewriting history is what we've resorted to in order to remain positive?

Seriously, the Saban point has been made like 50 times already

Why does everyone ALWAYS bring up Saban?

There they go! There they go! That's they one! Every damn time we start talking 'bout coaching records someone got to pull Nick Saban out they ass!!! He's dey one! Nick Saban! Nick Saban!
Probably because he is the greatest coach to ever coach the game. Hanging the hat on the fact that even the greatest wasn’t always the greatest.

Yeah. But it included a very embarrassing loss to La Monroe. Hey, at least we beat our OOC cup cakes!

And as has also been pointed out, Kirby didn't do so hot his first year at uga either. At the same time, both those coaches brought in the no. 1 recruiting class in the nation and have big recruiting advantages over us. It will take Pruitt more time, but I believe he can get there.
Actually, the Charlotte (a team that added football in 2013) game was comparable. I wouldnt say UT ‘beat’ them as much as they managed to win.

The only difference in this year and last is fewer season ending injuries.

Coming to America references are never amiss.

Some of the players didn't by in because they knew they would not see the field next year. They are too small and slow for Pruitt's system. He said that right after he met the team for the first time. I think his exact words were "I am surprised how small they are." Some of the players just went through the motion of playing. The OL and some on defense know they are not playing next year. I feel sorry for the players that bought in. We will improve when the weak players are gone. A coach can make players have self pride.

I am in the camp of giving Pruitt year one pass, to some degree, where we did finally get an SECW win, and beat two top 25 teams, and do think we'll be better next year. That being said, I'm not a fan of "so and so had a bad first year, and was successful, therefore Pruitt going to be successful." Butch also had bad first year. Saban analogy will be used infinitely for every first year SEC coach who struggles. Each situation is unique to itself, and has no bearing on Pruitt's success or failure, and didn't endear himself to confidence of year 2 with last two weeks. I do feel that if Pruitt can get us rolling, we'll catch the rest of the field pretty fast because of our tradition, facilities, fan base. Think media starving to get us back on top...we got a ton of press after the Auburn and Kentucky wins...we kinda have a cult following, when we're able to get things going.

Sorry, but if you expected 7-5 or 8-4 this year from Pruitt with this roster, then you haven’t been paying attention the last 3-5 years

In 2018, Butch Jones didn't call plays. Butch Jones didn't choose who started. Butch Jones didn't run practice every week.

11 months is plenty of time for Jeremy Pruitt to get his house in order well enough to not lose to a 5-6 Vanderbilt by 25 points. He didn't.

So Chip Kelly and Scott Frost must be garbage too. Care to review their losses?

IMO you can start comparing records after you beat Vandy. A loss to Vandy is magnitudes worse than a loss to La. Tech. I am not calling for anyones head because I don't think we are capable of hiring a better coach. So if you want to make comparisons, make them against other coaches who lost to Vandy first. Its a shorter list.

I don't follow UCLA, so I've got no clue why they suck, but Scott Frost had to start a walk-on QB at Nebraska .

How do you think we would have faired with a walk-on considering we went 5-7 with JG?

Ahh.... the Saban only won 6 his first year at Bama take.

A classic that never gets old.
After Dooleys's first year....Saban only won 6 his first year
After Jones' first year....Saban only won 6 games his first year

So it's only natural some keep pointing to this tired and lazy point

At the beginning of the season, Adrian Martinez was the starting QB at Nebraska. The QB that took his place after the injury was also a scholarship QB. It wasn't until he got injured that the walk-on started.

I love how our first line of defense is to find somebody that's doing worse so we can feel better.
Not a good sign. Can't explain/blame away the constant inconsistency shown by this team. That's bad coaching, this season's coaching, imo.
Can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear but you can make a really nice looking sow's ear. I don't think we've done that.
