Didn't Saban fire his OC after year one at Bama? Sometimes it doesn't work out like you thought and it's better to part ways sooner than later. FTR I am a Helton fan but clearly somethings not working. Pruitt has to make a change now if he's not 100% sold on Helton.Everyone trying to make Helton the fall guy. Who the hell hired Helton? That's who needs to be in the frying pan.
It's what we're best at around here. No fanbase does a coaching search like Vol fans. We even enjoy following other teams searches more than those fans.I guess it’s just that I’ve trained myself over the last 15 years as a Tennessee fan but I really feel in my groove when it’s cosching carousel season.

They've been practicing all year and haven't gotten it. Plus we don't know what percentage of players will even be a part of this team next year, even for spring. I think in most every case you are right but I'm not sure this one isn't the exception. JMORegarding the extra practices. You 100% need that. Fundamentals were lacking majorly. The practices could have been used to focus on it. 15 practices is essentially 5 weeks of extra in season practices. All regarding fundamentals would help next year exponentially, especially for the guys you'll keep. No reason to not focus on getting your foundation better before spring.
I agree, I'm not blaming the coaches for our lack of talent. I think Helton is a fine coach. He called some very good games this year. But if the rumors are true about him not being happy here/Pruitt not happy with him/or whatever, you have to cut bait. You should know better than to make this comment. Can't have it both ways ok to fire but I am a fan. Support the Coach first and with our OL/DL it's hard to judge anybody's ability on the coaching staff in there first year.......
I think Pruitt is exactly what Pruitt is, he's a first year head coach that's feeling his way through this. I've maintained and many times been chastised for it, that I don't believe TN is a job that's suited for on the job training. Doesn'tmean Pruitt is doomed for failure but I think it puts him at a huge disadvantage. He has/is and will continue to make mistakes. His future will be determined by how well he responds to those mistakes. Previous head coaching experience should always be extremely valued when hiring a head coach for the football team at Tennessee. JMOThen Pruitt isn’t the man I thought he was.
Real question. Have we ever learned how to throw or defend a slant route?
We've got fellow 'fans' saying we just need to wait 3-5 years to let the staff assemble a decent roster and then see if we can reel off a few 8-9 win seasons before setting our expectations higher. A good coaching search is probably the only joy that anyone is going to get our of this program for the next decade or so.Nothing beats a good coaching search on VN.
Was more than fine with kicking the tires on Houston last year. He’d have been behind the curve on SEC recruiting and relationships, but he bleeds winning. UNC seems perfect for him in his first P5 job. Satterfield will get his shot sooner rather than later but I’m not as big on him making the translation.Scott Satterfield or Mike Houston is the right hire for UNC. Both can recruit NC. Another major option is Clemson co-offensive coordinator.
